Final... A for effort but I'm a firm believer in no moral victories at UK. 1-7...

Not knowing what the spread was going into the game I am going to go out pn a limb and say the 'Cats covered.:thumb:

I saw a lot of passion (frustration) in UK play tonight. With Towels at QB, I think they could have won this game tonight.

27-28, I believe.

Good effort by the Cats but just couldnt pull it out.

Good game for the Wildcats. There were moments when you could see the potential on the field for UK and then they would get exposed especailly on defense because of that potential. It will be interesting to see what Mitch Barnhard decides to do at the end of the season. Is it a situation where they clean house? Or is it a situation where just a couple of coaches are asked to turn in their playbooks?

There is hope for the blue and white, it's just a few years down the road.

Brilliant play call at the end. Down 1 score, 85 yards to go, 9 seconds, 0 timeouts? Lets go with a 14 yard pass dead center of the field. :ohbrother:

And then with 1 second on the clock, let's not snap the ball immediately on the whistle. Let's look to the sideline for a play call and let the clock tick to zero. It was the longest of long shots so I am not going to get on them too hard but still, that was nothing but more proof of incompetence.

Agreed. Nothing wrong with running a short play to get yourself a better shot at the last second heave, but if you're doing that, don't run it over the middle, and don't have the team checking for the next play. The next play is the most obvious one possible. Flat out bad coaching. Just like having to call a TO on the first play of OT against WKU.

The good news is that maybe some of these young guys are talented after all. Hopefully the next coach can do something with them.

You can't coach football IQ. There have been whispers that Whitlow isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer and that the staff planned to move him to another position after this season. However, the injuries have forced them to keep him at QB. Putting Newton in at QB in the red zone further solidifies this point -- they don't trust Whitlow to make quick decisions. I think we can agree that Towles would not have thrown a dink over the middle with five seconds left then been on the sidelines afterwards waiting on a call. And that's not because of Joker either. He simply has football smarts.

The inconsistancy of this team is consistant of a young team.

Can someone tell me why Mitch is always on the sideline?

Better to be there than in the suites being bombarded with questions from big money alumni asking who the next coach is going to be!!

He may be evaluating the assistants up close so when it comes time for him to ask Joker which ones he wants to sacrifice to keep his job, Mitch can make a few suggestions to Joker

Really? It was Whitlow's call to send his #1 receiver on a 14 yard route? Its not like he checked down to a RB as a last resort. The play call had the #1 receiver on a 14 yard route. That's coaching.

And don't forget how the first half against South Carolina ended either. Joker squandered a huge amount of game clock AND a timeout on one play late in the half. Saving either one of those would have given UK a few attempts to get it in the endzone from the 1 yard line.

Joker didn't throw the damn ball. His quarterback did. My 12 year old knows you dont throw a 14 yard pass when you need 60.

I agree on the time management. Part of that is on Randy Sanders taking too long to get the play in. But the last two plays where Whitlow threw it then went to the sideline to get a play isn't on the coach. It's on the QB. Towles sure wouldn't have done either and they are both coaches by the same person
