If anyone can't get enough HS football and wants something to do on Saturday and is looking for a benchmark for OH teams, the #1 team in the state (St. Ignatius) is coming to town to play X on Saturday afternoon. Probably won't end well for X but should be fun to see Ignatius play.

They play the last game of the year which should be next weekend. That sets up to be a really good game.

As a Highlands grad and fan who now lives in Cincinnati, I can tell you the game is more about pride for Highlands and Harbin points for Elder. Highlands gets little respect from the big Cincinnati schools. Until recently, the lack of respect was earned because Highlands could not beat them. Actually, by playing them, Dale Mueller realized the only way he could take the Highlands program to the next level was by having no players playing both ways. You simply cannot beat these types of schools with players going both ways. They just wear you down and physically punish you in the second half of games. Recently, Highlands has held its own against the Cincy schools. I think Elder should be a 10 point favorite this year (and I have seen both teams play) but I will not be shocked if Highlands plays them very tough or even beats Elder. Highlands has been able to rest with basically 3 byes the last three weeks while Elder has played an incredibly hard schedule. It will be interesting to see how Highlands reacts to playing a good team for the first time in a month.

 

For Elder, this game is huge as it means a ton of Harbin points. Because Highlands will ALWAYS win a lot of games, the GCL teams all want to play them because they get a lot of Harbin points if they beat Highlands. Frankly, this is just another game for Elder. If you ask the Elder faithful, Highlands is no better than the 6th or 7th best team they will play this year. Highlands fans will not want to hear that (and I am one of them) but that is just the truth.

Does Cincy X have any shot at winning? and of the 3, st ignatius, colerain, st edward, which is the better team?

I would say Iggy's has to be favored but Cincy X ALWAYS has a shot at winning. They are very well coached and almost never get blown out. Even their losses are almost always good games. Also, Iggy's will be making a 5 hour drive to play this game.

OR go to The Pit to watch HHS JV v. Elder JV. Should be a fun game. If it is anything like the CCH (70-63?) or Withrow (70-58) games, pack a lunch!!!

St Ignatius combined opp record is 25-27. Or something like that i just forgot :lol: but ? is are they as good as advertised?
