Great episode. Loved the return of Morgan. Hated to see him stay, but agree with madman. Morgan return in the season finale to help Rick's group. Loved the new direction of Michonne.

^ Been a really long week & we didn't get to watch it until Monday, with me in full Flu mode.

 

My wife saw a lot of social media conversation about how this was one of the best episodes ever. I thought it was good, but not great. The only great part for me was getting to see Morgan, even the crazy Morgan that we were presented with.

 

Some of the questions posed in this thread stuck out as I watched, such as how in the world was Rick unaware of the prison if his hometown was as close as it seems to be? That annoyed me a little bit, especially considering that he is in law enforcement.

 

I did like how Michonne took steps toward becoming more accepted by Rick & Carl. I've long wanted her to become more like she is in the comics, which is Rick's right-hand-(wo)man when it comes to violence.

I think the greatness of the episode was more about the underlying meaning. Yeah Morgan was brought back and even though he went crazy I think it was probably the right thing since he had been alone for so long.

 

I think with season 3 most have been accustomed to the fast episodes with tons of people dying and a lot of zombies but I really liked this episode.

 

 

The biggest thing for me, which I already mentioned was how close his hometown seems to be to the prison and he not even put 2 and 2 together. I men I guess maybe he's not thinking straight but surely he should have known with him being the sheriff.

The whole driving back home thing with Rick does make you wonder why he didn't go back sooner. However, someone at EKU brought up the point that it has never been established how far away they are now. That perhaps Rick's home was 4-5 hours away from the prison?

Could very well be. Just seems odd thou that it wasn't established.

How about ditching the hiker? I thought that was key in how the zombie apocalypse has changed everyone. If this was the first season, they would have stopped and brought hiker dude for the ride, add another person to their group. But now it's a "take care of your own" mentality. And it did not phase them to grab the backpack of the guy they ditched.

Yep. It was more of a symbolic scene for te show than anything.

It was nice to see Morgan again. His story about what happened to his son was pretty powerful. I remember from season 1 how Morgan could not shoot his zombie wife. His son was his lifeline, and gets bit by his mom/Morgan's wife. The shoulda coulda woulda that goes with it---yeah that would make Morgan go crazy.

 

I was hoping Morgan would notice the fighting spirit of Michonne, Carl and Rick and that would motivate Morgan to go with them and do what another Morgan said in Shawshank Redemption, "Get busy living, or get busy dying."

Liked the episode the distance of the hometown did not bother me that much he was getting ready to fight a war, and he felt like he knew where guns and ammo were. This is a year out of the initial outbreak, (give or take) so I see this is a possible gamble that was needed.

He journeyed from his home, to downtown Atlanta, to the mountain where he found the team. They went on the road to Herschells farm and traveled far enough away from there, Herschell did not know about the prison either. That's not your local prison. It is was close they would have known. Finding the pic was not that important. They could have done something else to bring Michone into the trust mode.

Sort of a boring episode tonight. However, I've found that in watching The Talking Dead afterwards...I still have a crush on Eliza Dushku.

I thought it was still pretty solid. Not the best by any means but I don't think it was meant to big some big confrontation. Sometimes I think we have too high of expectations.

I believe it was "boring" because people had built up some kind of hype and anticipation with the confrontation between Rick and The Governor. Obviously Rick wasn't going to kill him on the spot and if you really think about it not much at all could come from their meeting.

 

I thought the episode served it's purpose and it's all a build up to the season finale.

 

 

Had no clue until tonight but there is only 3 episodes left now.
