Clyde Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 A few I like: KY Bourbon Barrel Ale Hoegaarden Fat Tire Avery White Rascal
Getslow Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 Where to start, where to start... I'm crazy about beer. All kinds. It's still early October, so my first advice, since this is my favorite time of year to drink beer, is go to the nearest place with a lot of beers and buy as many different Octoberfests as you can find. The marzen-style beer is perhaps my favorite.
CBDV Posted October 9, 2012 Author Posted October 9, 2012 Clyde, I have tried and like KY Bourbon Barrel Ale, man does it have some kick. Thanks for the suggestions.
coldweatherfan Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 Most of the big liquor stores and even a lot of Krogers and WalMarts have a thing where you can do mixed six packs for around $9.00 Based on what you list I would recomend, Red Hook ESB, Red Hook Blonde, Dos Equis Amber, Goose Island 312, Goose Island or Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, Sam Adams Octoberfest, Bell's Oberon, Lienenkugel Original or Red, Smithwick's, and Bass Ale. These are some to start with. And you won't go out and spend $6 on a pint you hate.
PurplePride92 Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 Yuengling.* Nothing else matters. * It isn't sold in Ky so you'll need to find people traveling through Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Tennessee, South Carolina, Georgia, West Virginia, Virginia....I've been fortunate that I am in central Ky and I haven't been out of Yuengling since June. I have some excellent friends who always seem to be traveling.
PurplePride92 Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 Landshark is a great beer also. Very smooth.
Getslow Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 Yuengling.* Nothing else matters. Very tough to beat in that price range.

ThrillVille Cardinal51 Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 BBC's Bourbon Barrel Stout is fantastic.
ThrillVille Cardinal51 Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 My suggestion would be to just check out the selection at the store and just try something new. That's what I like to do. If you want something seasonal, go with an Oktoberfest style or a pumpkin ale.

Pretty cheap considering and a bock I like more than Amber Bock.

You might try going to a bar known for beer and getting a flight, that way you can try several different beers at an affordable price. Or, if a liquor store near you has growlers you can usually sample what's on tap.
