As long as we have an internationalized labor market, a large percentage of the jobs created will be off shored, or on shored to low cost foreign labor. I have heard way too many fist hand stories of people employed long term only to be laid off just prior to being vested in a retirement plan.

 

I'm not well-versed in the area but I heard someone comment that the govt needs to do something about work visas (maybe B1 or something like that) as it brings in foreign workers at lower wages.

More people were actually looking for jobs, and somewhere I saw that the actual real new jobs was over 800k. Again, I don't want to learn how that is all figured out but the simple fact is, whatever numbers you have used as long as they are consistent over time we have less unemployment now than we did at this time last year.

I would certainly hope that we don't have a bunch of folks out there who are disappointed in the "better numbers" just because of the potential benefit to the President's campaign.

It's simply not good enough, though. This country needs a better rate of recovery than what it's getting. Poor performance is still unacceptable. If this recovery were under a Republican president, you'd be saying it too.

No, we have concerned people worried that were just one hit from falling into a recession again.

According to my conservative friends on Facebook it is really over 11% because they aren't including the numbers of those who have 'given up' looking for jobs.

Last month 148,000 new jobs and the unemployment rate dropped from 8.2 to 8.1. This month only 114,000 found jobs and the unemployment rate drops from 8.1 to 7.8.

 

This tells you that fewer are looking for jobs. Only 68% of the country that is able to work is actually working. That is pathetic.

So the 47% is actually too low? Should it be the 58% or the 63%? Shoot, looks like if Obama wants to win he needs to find less jobs and put more people on welfare and unemployment to me since people aren't looking for jobs any more.
