I would guess that the taxes it takes to pay for those jobs probably costs you a few dollars a year, is that really your complaint?

Yes it is .One man could do the job ,very wasteful .

Living in Louisville these days. A couple things that I like here (out of MANY) are the Forecastle Festival and the ability to go to a world-class three day music festival and spend each night sleeping in my own bed, Sergio's World Of Beers, and the fact that I'm closer in proximity to the Kentucky Bourbon Trail.

I dislike the network of well-connected people who love the status quo in Louisville and do everything in their power to firebomb every innovative idea for how to improve the city.

The Bridges Project was and remains an absolute disaster of the status quo. The well-connected folks had their hands all over this one. The East End bridge should have been built first (without tolls) to gauge just how much of the downtown movement of trucks could be routed around the city. I was (and remain) a big advocate of 8664, the project to demolish the raised section of I-64 across downtown and replace it with a street-level boulevard. It's the direction all central business districts in cities around the world are taking as they've begun to understand that central business districts thrive when getting around in them (not just getting in and out of them) is easy. Even if you don't like 8664, not building the East End bridge first without the rest of the mess was a terrible idea.

 

They're about to use the power of the Metro Council to torpedo the brilliance of the Uber and Lyft services by forcing them to abide taxicab regulations when what they should really do is torpedo taxi cab regulations.

 

The best thing to be in Louisville is a well-connected real estate developer. Despite a decade of incompetence, we're going to continue to sell of chunks of the city to groups like Cordish who then sit on the property (as they did with their rights to redevelop the Louisville Gardens), hoping to get a favorable benefit from the government and build something at no expense to themselves.

 

And don't even get me started on how the Yum Center got built.

I like that Louisville is home to Sullivan University, the culinary school of which has been a HUGE boon to Louisville's restaurant scene. I like that UPS' international air hub is here in town for the same reason. Freshest seafood in Middle America.

Just for the record...I only do maybe one or two Bourbon Trail stops in the course of a year, and I think I might get to Sergio's once every couple of months. Doesn't mean I don't really like them, though.
