GOREDDEVILS Posted January 14, 2006 Posted January 14, 2006 Wtg Devils!!!!!! :ylsuper: VanHoose had 26 points for Russell and McDavid had 13 points for Ashland.
Shoeshine Boy Posted January 14, 2006 Posted January 14, 2006 Kasey Clark has 3 big three pointers and keeps Ashland in the lost colum.
AshlandTomcat41 Posted January 14, 2006 Posted January 14, 2006 Im beyond frustrated with this so-called "offense", its actually pretty sickening to watch. Here is what I dont understand. Ashland's offense obviously centers around 2 people, Drew and Matt, and it should. But it seems to me that the way the offense "works" is that basically Matt and Drew are on their own to make their shots. I do not understand why Flynn doesnt have the other 3 players on the floor set screens and move to help get them open, the way that Russell runs Vanhoose around the floor like a deer, eventually popping open for a 3. Everything Matt and Drew are able to accomplsih during a game they basically got on their own. Thats not saying the other players dont work, but Flynn seems to be fully satisifed with this offense the way it is. Matt and Drew are without a doubt 2 of the top 5 players in the region. Drew is great around the basket, and has an overall solid game. The sky is the limit for Matt Thomas, he has improved his 3 point shot, and he also has a mid range jumper, which in todays game is a lost art, and we all know about him defensively. But Im affraid that these two players will not reach their full potential in the current regime. I would like to see a little offensive creativity, PLEASE! This team should not 5-10 or whatever their record is, I know hard schedule blah blah blah you can only play that song so long. I dont know if you guys saw the area statistical leaders in the paper today, but I noriced something very telling about this Ashland team. We did not have ONE SINGLE player who averages 2 assists a game!!!!!!!!!!!! That is just absurd, and its not the players fault.
Cubster Posted January 14, 2006 Posted January 14, 2006 Five straight wins for Devils over the Tomcats. Another hard fought game. Both teams played their guts out.
spindoc Posted January 14, 2006 Posted January 14, 2006 Maybe the district should be moved to Ashland, seems visitors do pretty well there!

Sounds like you are rooting for the 2004 and 2005 Boyd County Lions....Welcome to our past world  We feel for ya, cause we been there-done that
shooterx3 Posted January 14, 2006 Posted January 14, 2006 Was a pretty good game to watch, Kasey Clark hit 3 out of 4 3's which will totally mess up everyone's scouting report, Van Hoose hit some big shots, especially in the first quarter, and a big 3 late, but Drew Mcdavid was a warrior inside in the 3rd quarter and was dominating the game when Russell put kasey Clark on him, I'm not sure who would have won that war because it wasnt too long after that that Drew fouled out going over Kasey's back on a rebound. Matt Thomas's 3 ball is much improved, and Russell needs to get Austin Blair at 100%, he is struggling with his ankle now
shooterx3 Posted January 14, 2006 Posted January 14, 2006 Russell's strecth run has started tough test tomorrow
Knuckleball Posted January 14, 2006 Posted January 14, 2006 Russell has got Scott next and they are gonna have to bring somethn that Scott isn't prepared for or they have no chance next game.
GOREDDEVILS Posted January 14, 2006 Author Posted January 14, 2006 Russell has got Scott next and they are gonna have to bring somethn that Scott isn't prepared for or they have no chance next game. All I have to say is Scott better not over look the Devils today they will be looking at a Loss.

I agree with you 99%!! :thumb: But the schedule is tough, but you can blame the coaches for that too! Maybe Flynn has used the old offense so long that he doesn't know how to run an up tempo offense?? Ha!
Nothingbutnet Posted January 14, 2006 Posted January 14, 2006 All I have to say is Scott better not over look the Devils today they will be looking at a Loss. This isn't Fantasy Island! Russell has NO CHANCE at all against Scott no matter what they do! Anyone that thinks otherwise is kidding themselves!
Nothingbutnet Posted January 14, 2006 Posted January 14, 2006 Congrats to Russell!! They seem to have the Tomcats number both in basketball and football! BUT take note that beating Ashland isn't bragging rights to the region anymore! Right now, Ashland isn't even a top 5 team in the 16th!
