Don't let the idiot announcers influence you. There was 1st touching by the punting team. Newman could have picked up the ball, and fumbled it, and the Bengals still could have taken the ball where it was 1st touched. There was no risk at all him trying to grab the ball, and run with it.

 

He wasnt but I think by rule it would still be Bengals ball if WAS recovered after he touched the ball.
