I think so. The addition of the word "serious" changed the complexion of the thread. Even though most people who have seen Canady play sing his praises, and his name should be mentioned in the conversation, he isn't being viewed as a serious contender because most people think his actual chances of winning it are slim to none. That isn't because his abilities are not good enough, but because of all the reasons mentioned in this thread about Quick and the fact that Canady has the misfortune of being in that same class.

I agree that there are others who are talented enough to be considered, I just don't believe anyone will get enough notice to be considered a serious contender.

 

The pros and cons of having a player like Quick from Kentucky. I am proud of Mr. Quick and look forward to watching him at the next level. Unfortunately he's so good that guys like Timmons and Canady and many many others are forgotten about or not given enough statewide publicity because Quick is deservedly getting all of the attention. Makes me thankful for BGP so the Canadys and Timmons can get some shine also.

Really, probably the thing that hurts him most publicity wise, is that there's no stat padding with this kid. He's in a good backfield and often used as a decoy. When the game is in hand, he's on the sidelines. I like that.

I think you're right. But because of this thread, the Herald-Leader story, and the regional papers, he's better known than he was.
