That means they don't know anything about him so they just say 'no'. Much easier that way.

What's even worse is that people will say, 'I want to see him play against somebody' instead of looking at what he has done against a bunch of somebodies and then when he runs for 186 yards and receives 120 and has 1 td in the state final it still isn't enough. It becomes, 'well, he's not D-1. The other candidates are D-1...blah, blah, blah....'

Which would indicate they're right, wouldn't it? No matter how good a young man is, at this point Quick has had 4 years of build up and I don't see anyone overcoming that. Being on national TV for a nationally top ranked team seals the deal I would think.

What's ironic is that Quick isn't even the best player on his own team, but, ya'll are probably right, he'll get it, unless Timmons happens to commit to UK before they hand out the award, then, possibly, he has a shot.

Really, probably the thing that hurts him most publicity wise, is that there's no stat padding with this kid. He's in a good backfield and often used as a decoy. When the game is in hand, he's on the sidelines. I like that.

I just don't buy the fact that just because people are too lazy to look elsewhere besides Quick that others aren't good enough to be a serious contender for Mr. Football in 2012. At the end of the day James Quick makes it convenient and easy for everyone to vote for him. They really should give him the award before the game Friday because Mr. Football is truly a non story this year.

 

That being said I still believe Jeffrey Canady should be a serious contender for the award this season.

I agree that there are others who are talented enough to be considered, I just don't believe anyone will get enough notice to be considered a serious contender.
