Sense Of Gloom Falls On Republicans

Featured Replies

WASHINGTON -– Republicans could use a bit of advice from an unlikely source right now: Obama adviser David Plouffe, who in 2010 told Democrats worried about the mid-term elections, "No bed-wetting."

Now it's Republicans who are frightened. Mitt Romney's recent troubles have created a sense of gloom, and a good dose of doom, in the Grand Old Party.

"I think there is a broad and growing feeling now, among Republicans, that this thing is slipping out of Romney’s hands," wrote the Wall Street Journal's Peggy Noonan, in a "come to Jesus," in-your-face column posted on Tuesday night.

Noonan is correct.

After going from a Democratic convention that gave President Barack Obama a bump, to Romney's bumbling handling of Middle East unrest, to a story about campaign infighting, and now with the release of a secretly taped video of Romney, numerous Republicans said there is now a sense of siege.

Please keep believing this.

Voter suppression efforts continue. There are many ways to suppress a vote. False news is one.

We agree again!

This race is till too close to call. Most recent polling that I've seen (pre-47%) was this:

Eligible voters - 50-45 Obama

Likely voters - 47-46 Obama

In other words, Romney supporters/Republicans are more likely to vote.

Everytime I read your posts I feel like I'm texting a 14 year old with your use of emoticons.

Rasmussen and Gallup, which are the two most well respected pollsters, have this as a one point race. Each with a different leader. This race is far from over.

Instead of posting constant reaffirmation of why Obama's going to win, post something once in a while why it would be beneficial if he in fact did win.

75, you're going to give me a seizure. That post was like watching a Japanese cartoon.

Mr. Green Horse, you are definitely a one trick pony. And the trick is getting old. I hope all Democrats are as over confident as you are. They are definitely as arrogant. I will survive, even if President Obama is re-elected, but I am not sure the country will. I truly wish he was as Saint-like as you make him out to be. I honestly don't know what you see in him, but then again, Romey wasn't my first choice either. Having said that, I will vote for Romney, because he is the lesser of two evils. I would almost like to vote Libertarian, but I have to look at the big picture. And the big picture is, a libertarian vote is a vote for President Obama.

What's worse? Assuming that Obama will cause the country to implode and turn us into the USSR Jr. or that he is the second coming of Christ?

President Obama is not a good president, IMO. However, I don't think I'm going to be saluting a flag with a hammer and sickle if he is re-elected.

I think we agree, don't we?

I just don't think the country will fall apart if Obama is re-elected. I thought that's what you were saying. If not, I misunderstood and I apologize.

I feel like that kind of hyperbolic rhetoric just adds to the divisiveness already present in the country.

 Sorry, I know what you mean as my kids used to watch those.

I don't think the country will fall apart if either gets elected, in fact I think(hope) things will get better no matter who gets in. I sure would like another viable option though.

I probably wasn't as clear as I should have been. I do not feel the country will fall apart if President Obama is re-elected. I just think his philosophy of spending our way out of our problems is not workable. I feel that Governor Romney will at least try to put the brakes on spending. I can't agree with putting further taxes on anyone, because you don't treat an alcoholic (the Federal Government) by giving them more alcohol (money). Our country will not fall apart, immediately, no matter whom is elected President. I am just trying to look at the cummulative affect, long term.
