August 29, 201214 yr I am doing some digging now. Here is an amazing season. 1972 Steve Carlton won 27 games for a terrible Philadelphia team. The most wins any other pitcher on that team had was 7. The team only won 59 games. Carlton threw 346 innings, 310 K's, ERA 1.97 and WHIP 0.99.
