What Does The 2013 Version of the Cincinnati Reds Look Like?

Featured Replies

Well, in an attempt not to skew this magnificent thread, I have a question:

I'm not asking what you would do personally, I'm asking what do you think the Reds will do?

Chapman, spring training as a starter? As the foregone closer? Which do you think they'll do?

I think he's a starter next season. I think they'll try to bring back (if healthy) Madson on the cheap.

I knew you would.

And for the record, I'm not opposed to Chapman being a starter. That was never my contention. Only that if he's in the pen he has to close. I do think he thrives on the adrenalin of the ninth. Everyone sticks around and stands to see the cheese. I think he feeds off that. I don't know if he can feel the same juice as the starter. I understand it's not his decision to make. But pitchers are whacky. (See Roy Oswalt) I think he's found his niche. I wonder if he still has the desire to be a starter.

Walt continues to say he's a starter. Until he changes his tune, my opinion isn't going to change.

If Walt deems him a starter next season he should be fired immediately.

I'll trust his judgement over yours...

I think Chapman is THE closer next year and they may try and package Bailey with Ondrusek or Simon or Broxton for a decent left-handed starter. Does anyone have a list of left-handed starters the Reds could legit go after and get for next season? Is there a lefty in Triple A that could be ready?

Broxton is a FA.

Chapman has said a number of times he wants to be a starter.

If he doesn't give him the chance to start he should be fired immediately IMO.

Has he said since he has achieved rock star status with these saves?

I haven't heard anything about it since before he really started closing.

He's said he prefers starting since he was made the closer...

I'd like to see if he wants that job change now. He digs the pats on the back and the ball being handed to him and the fans standing and screaming.

He would dig being a 20 game winner and leading the league is strikeouts as well.
