Gov Romney VP Candidate Announcement

Featured Replies

^I'm actually hoping it's Portman or McDonnell. I like Christie, Rubio, and even Ryan better, but it's important that the VP candidate doesn't "outshine" the POTUS candidate, and I think all three of those guys are more charismatic than Gov. Romney. :idunno:

That's a good point on Romney and I could be way off but he seems to have the personality of a wet cardboard box.

On a personal level, issues aside, I do not mind Romney he just comes off as a weenie sometimes -- in front of a camera at least which is where he will be for 99% of Americans these next few months. Christie is the exact opposite of what Romney is with his demeanor. He still wants to be President and will wait 4 more years.

That's a pretty good point.

I don't say this to be a jerk, but I don't think it takes much to outshine Romney. I'm speaking of personality here, but he reminds me a lot of Al Gore when it comes to that. Gore found someone that didn't outshine him in Lieberman. I think Romney would be better served going with someone who can bring some life to the ticket.

America has continuously proven that we vote for the most personable & likable when voting for President. That's sad IMO, but true. Romney's campaign needs some of that personality if he is to have a chance.

This article was a fun read on the subject. It posits that if you look at Wikipedia updates for the likely candidates, you're going to see a massive spike in one of them in the 24 hours leading to the selection.

How To Spot Romney's VP Candidate In Advance

Sarah Palin's Wikipedia page was updated at least 68 times the day before John McCain announced her selection, with another 54 changes made in the five previous days previous.

So basically the campaign rolls through and cleans up the prospective VP's Wikipedia page in the hours before announcing him/her. Interesting idea.

Can't wait for the debates. Lots of "Umms" from the President, and a lot of backpedaling "well, uh" from Romney. Captivating. Bring back Gore/Bush for the hilarity factor.

Agree on Christie. And he's been pretty vocal about not seeking higher office this election cycle.

That's a pretty good point.

I think modeling your work on the Gore campaign isn't the best idea. Among elections I really remember, that ranks right up there with Jack Conway's 2010 senatorial campaign as the absolute worst.

Lockbox.

Strategery.

Will conservatives overlook his recent declaration of support for someone that has been labeled a "terrorist?"
