You're multiplication tables are still correct...you just didn't multiply in order of the operartion!

When solving linear equations, the math order of operations dictates what functions we do in what order.

 

1. Parenthesis

2. Exponents

3. Multiplication and Division in whichever order they appear in the equation

4. Addition and Subtraction in whichever order they appear in the equation

 

Parenthesis, Exponents, Multiplication, Division, Addition, Subtraction, thus PEMDAS

 

Since the Multiplication and Division are done in the order they appear, same with Addition and Subtraction, then the acronym could be PEDMAS or PEDMSA

 

With the expanded notation:

 

((((((5 + 5) + 5) - 5) + 5) + 5) - 5) + (5 X 0) =

 

(((((10 + 5) - 5) + 5) + 5) - 5) + (5 X 0) =

 

((((15 - 5) + 5) + 5) - 5) + (5 X 0) =

 

(((10 + 5) + 5) - 5) + (5 X 0) =

 

((15 + 5) - 5) + (5 X 0) =
