Why does it matter what Player A or B did in April and May? They're both hot right now and you have to decided who to play. Why would that determination be based on what either did 2-3 months ago? Player B is much better defensively.

What's the point of only deciding by 20 or 30 games? In that case, I can put up Josh Hamilton stats from July and Ludwick right next to him. You'll take Ludwick. Same idea as Rolen vs Frazier.
August 2, 201214 yr It's obvious it's Rolen and Frazier, and I'm taking Frazier, regardless of which of those two he is. He's the everyday 3B next season, you roll with him, since he's giving darn near the same production. Use Rolen as the 2 day a week backup.

If you want to say something like that then Votto should sit the bench when he comes back because Cincy is doing this without him. Hamilton is an all star and MVP contender. Neither of these players are on that level. My point is why would you not ride the hotter hand when you're trying to keep a division lead?

Where did you get those stats?
August 2, 201214 yr Espn.com Then I'm confused. Rolen is hitting much better than Frazier in the last 30 days so that's not really close. The only close race is left field and while Heisey is hitting 8 points higher than Ludwick, Ludwick has 19 more RBI's.
