July 27, 201214 yr Good call with Hamilton, I forgot about him. Brian McCann & Delmon Young are both FA's too, which could attract some interest. I doubt McCann will be a free agent, the Braves have a club option at $12million
July 30, 201214 yr I'm sorry, but the Marlins are asking for way to much in any trade involving Josh Johnson. He is, when healthy, one of the best pitchers in all of baseball. BUT, key word is Healthy. The Marlins are just asking to much for a guy who is injury prone.
July 30, 201214 yr Marlins owner and front office conned the city of Miami pretty badly. Traded Hanley, wants rid of Heath Bell and Zambrano, and will most definitely trade Johnson by next summer. So basically every meaningful signing or adjustment they did for this year they have already gave up on with the exception of Reyes. This is why the Marlins will always be the Marlins. Fire sale after fire sale.
August 7, 201214 yr Buster Olney has an article on ESPN Insiders today that talks about how much trouble the Marlin's are in. Their attendance has been at least 25% less than expected. Couple that with the fact that they have $55 million already committed to Reyes, Nolasco, Buehrle, Bell and Johnson for next season and they are unlikely to be able to sign any big ticket free agents in the offseason. To make matters worse Reyes, Buehrle and Bell have backloaded contracts that will make them difficult to trade so retooling with a bunch of prospects from trades might not be an option this time.
