ESPN Game Day coming back to Rupp this season.

Featured Replies

According to one Digger Phelps...

ESPN's Gameday is Coming Back to Rupp

Start saving your vocal cords, got to greet Digger with a Mountain of Boos....would be too much to hope that Robert M. Knight would come also?

The rally cry should be "Remember Vandy, Digger!!!"

It will also visit Assembly Hall in Bloomington and Louisville. That UofL game will be against Notre Dame, so I'm sure there will be some seriously awful prognostication by Digger.

Rupp Arena was filled the last time they came to town, by far their biggest crowd ever.

It was filled for Brad Paisley too

While I don't mind a little Paisley occasionally that was very funny.

Call me old and crotchety but I don't get the fascination with Game Day .

But watch it and see what other's attendance looks like.

The only reason it was filled for Brad Paisley because me and you were there!

Yep they didn't come to see Paisley, they came to see Big Slick and Plantmanky, lol.

I agree, but I'm sure we would feel different if we were college students.

I think LRCW hit the nail on the head. But I will also say that I think GameDay is a great way for you to get your school and program in the national spotlight for a day. Now that Coach Cal has been leading UK to the promise land, UK is always in the national spotlight, but its good for those schools who might not get to shine as much.

That's my initial thought as well and it was definitely the way I felt when it was at Freedom Hall in 2008. "Why would I go down there to scream on command for two hours and then have eight hours until the game actually starts?" It made sense when you were in the entertainment desert of the Kentucky Fair and Exposition Center.

But now? "You're telling me I get to go to downtown Louisville and have an all-day party on Main Street that culminates in a UofL basketball game? Sounds great." I could be talked into heading down there this year.

You're old and crotchety.
