I usually hang on Clyde's every word. I am ashamed.

It's OK. No offense taken. With the number of posts I have it's bound to happen occasionally.

Big jump but still not the same. He didn't play A ball and go to the bigs in the same season..

And be asked to play a different position. Even some established big leaguers have struggled with position changes. I think that's the key. Have him in CF at either A or AA, let him at least get his feet wet there, see how that transition goes, then maybe you consider it. I just don't see him being the answer for the Reds today.

No but he also didn't show the same improvement in the plate discipline category as Hamilton has as he advances through levels...Furcal actually got worse and he only spent a total of 43 Games in High A and 3 in AA...Furcal had more walks than strikeouts, 41-36 in Low A, once he got moved up to High A in his 43 Games he walked only 14 times and struckout 42 times...He also hit .293/.343 in A+ which was actually down from what he did in Low A...

Hamilton already has played 81 Games at High A and has 49 Strikeouts to 67 Walks and a .326/.415 line...That is a huge improvement over what he did in Low A...

There is no way that Hamilton could do right now what Furcal did in his Rookie Season, not many can even prospects that play at AAA for a while before coming up don't usually do what he did...If Hamilton could give the Reds the Reds 2/3rds of what Furcal did in his rookie season it would be an improvement...

I agree with giving him a taste of CF before bringing him up...You almost have to give him a taste first and I agree with that, however I don't think it would take anymore than a week or two to see if he can play CF adequately...The only other thing the Reds can do now is move Cozart to 3rd and put Frazier in left and let Billy play SS but that isn't going to happen because he would hurt the team more than he would help at SS, his defense isn't ML Ready yet as SS...

That would be around a .200 avg. and 27 stolen bases...

 your right but I didn't do any calculations, my point was he doesn't have to duplicate Furcal's numbers as a rookie or even duplicate his own High A numbers to be an improvement to this team...Of course I agree once again none of this matters if we don't know that he can play CF or the OF at all...

There are stories of him catching a ball over the shoulder from the SS position all the way out on the warning track because the OF lost the ball, does that count as playing the OF :D

Billy Hamilton may be the next Cool Papa Bell who Satchel Paige claimed hit a line drive up the middle that went screaming past his ear, and hit Bell in the buttocks as he was sliding into second base.

Well done, Flotsam. That story had Negro League written all over it.

 well there isn't video evidence of the catch, but there are eye witness accounts of it actually happening...

Hamilton will go to AA after the Futures game.

About time, did Didi get moved up as well?

Hopefully Lamarre gets moved up so Hamilton can start learning CF...Lamarre is probably just as deserving of a promotion than Didi...

You guys found one player. A player that was/is most likely older than he says. Bad idea, plain and simple. Young guy playing a new position and being introduced to it in the show. Has disaster written all over it.

Pretty much what the Reds have at the top of the lineup now.
