July 3, 201214 yr You mean besides the right to marry the person that they love? Besides the right to be the "next of kin" for that person in some cases? That is a right denied to all. Every woman who is straight does not have the right to marry another woman. Marrying the same sex is illegal for everyone, regardless of your gender or orientation. Not everyone has the right to marry who they love, I would have married Lady Abralin from the neighborhood of make believe when I was 15 when I was younger. I do not have the right to be next to kin to whomever I choose either.

Do you suggest that guy people marry someone of the opposite sex? Or not marry at all, since they can't marry who they love?
July 3, 201214 yr As long as that person is a woman and not younger than 18. Same limitations for me as anyone else
July 3, 201214 yr As long as that person is a woman and not younger than 18. Same limitations for me as anyone else Let me ask again. Who should a gay person marry? Someone they don't love? Or no one at all?
July 3, 201214 yr Let me ask again. Who should a gay person marry? Someone they don't love? Or no one at all? Thats up to them. IN this country everyone, both gay and straight, have the right to marry whomever they wish as long as that person is not of the same gender, is not a minor, and is not being forced into the marriage. I know what your point is but people are talking about a right being denied to only a certain demographic. The fact is no one has the right to marry a person of the same gender. We are all denied that right.

July 3, 201214 yr I don't think it takes a huge sack of stones for a TV celebrity to say they're gay anymore. It does for the non celebrity though. They're still alienating the rest of the world outside LA and NY.
July 3, 201214 yr They're still alienating the rest of the world outside LA and NY. Thats a pretty broad statement. Most people, the vast majority of people do not care what someone's 'orientation' is. There are the Westboro wackos and those who feel that 'gay marriage' is an attack or subversion of long time institution. But most do not care. It seems Mr. Anderson confirmed what was an open secret in a relatively discrete way. He did not personally make a big splash or go out of his to politicize his 'status'. He just confirmed or allowed his status to be confirmed more openly. The reason for not confirming has been documented as “for professional reasons”. He works for supposedly ultra-liberal CNN. It seems they would have been far more accepting than other places. But maybe not. Hopefully one day the need to be secretive about ones private life will go away and not be a threat. But today that does not seem be the case at even most supposedly liberal of work places. I do not agree with Mr. Anderson on most of his slants but he seems to be one of the much better and professional journalists on CNN. That opinion did not change with this 'announcement'. Professionals such be judged by their actions - as a professional.
July 3, 201214 yr Exactly. This board is overwhelmingly conservative and most of the posters on here don't care.
July 3, 201214 yr Exactly. This board is overwhelmingly conservative and most of the posters on here don't care. While this is true, this board is full of educated individuals (and I am not talking college hours or degrees, but people who continually evaluate their opinions and positions through research and discussion.) Unfortunately, the rest of the world isn't like that. I honestly would not say that most people are accepting of homosexuals. Many, but not most. I have a gay cousin in my extended family and he has only recently felt comfortable enough to come to family reunions. He still doesn't bring his partner. I see how happy he is in the photos on his Facebook page and my heart hurts a little for him on that he doesn't feel comfortable/safe sharing that with the rest of the world.

I don't disagree, I just took exception to the "rest of the world outside LA and NY" comment. It may be much of the world, but then again, much of the world just doesn't see it as much of an issue.
July 3, 201214 yr Megan Rapinoe...us women's soccer team....announces she is gay. What could possibly be next? Members of the LPGA, the US Softball team, say it isn't so :ohbrother:
July 3, 201214 yr A while back I posted in a thread that the end of Human kind would not be from a disaster or warfare but from its own undoing. This is just another example. My point in that post was that everyone is turning gay, and by doing so, humans will no longer reproduce and therefore extinct themselves. This is just another example of proof to my point.
July 3, 201214 yr Heck, at one time it was commonly held that LPGA stood for Lesbian Professional Golf Association. That has changed some in recent years, however. List of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender sportspeople - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
