OKC probably needs to make a few changes, or they might be stuck being the Buffalo Bills of the NBA, constantly making it to the Finals and losing. What pieces do they need to fix/improve?

 

I have a really random idea, which might sound dumb at first glance, but I will say:

 

Trade Westbrook to Boston for Rondo and maybe another player. Then sign a vetern who can still get it done (e.g. Ray Allan...or a player like Battier was for the Heat). Seems like they want/need a true point guard in OKC. Also seems like Boston wants that young player to build a new team around and they were looking to shop Rondo all last year. I think its a win/win for everybody, if Boston keeps KG and signs another player (assuming Pierce and Allan are gone).

 

I say all this having no idea what salaries are and the financial nonsense that goes into these deals. Just wanted to throw it out there.

I read someone on twitter last night suggesting they amnesty Perkins and sign Harden to a long term close to max extension. I would do that. Veteran pieces like Battier will be dying to go there to compete for titles. If I was them I'd go after Nash and play RWB at the 2 some.

I'd trade or Amnesty Perkins. He sucks. I doubt they Amnesty Perk he is owed $26 Mil over the next 3 years.

 

I think they need to move Westbrook off the ball and most likely will next year with Maynor healthy (Hopefully). They need to get a shooter badly. Sefolosha is a good defender but he is a miserable shooter. They had no spacing at all. KD is the only one that can hit a 3 that actually plays.

Perkins is awful.

Now that Miami has proven that what they did will work the NBA will probably see a lot of this type team going forward, 3 mega stars and a bunch of role players willing to take less money to win a championship. With the money that mega stars make they will be willing to take less to have a chance to win. It should make for an interesting offseason.

I think they are a young team that is going through the process of winning a championship. You have to lose before you win to learn how to win. They'd be silly to change anything. They need to start a plan for either signing Harden or replacing him if he leaves in 2014. Change nothing. Move Perkins maybe if possible but I wouldn't change a thing.

Where do they go from here? Back to the NBA Finals for the foreseeable future seems most likely.

There's not much doubt in my mind that OKC will remain the team of the Western conference. Considering how young the team is, I really like their chances over the future if it remains together.

It has to be really nice to have your four best players aged 23,23,22,22 and with NBA Finals experience. Now that's a luxury.

Tons of length on that team but in the finals always seemed to be slow getting back on transition D. Maybe they were tired by a long season (oops shortened season), maybe they just aren't that fast, maybe they were conserving energy for the other end when they had the ball...any way it goes they need to play better consistent D. IMO they need a defensive stopper type player that can cover 1-2-3 or at least 3-4. Keep RWB unless you can get Rondo and Garnett in a trade :lol:. They don't need to blow up the team just cut dead weight and fill in the roster spots with "Players" willing to do work.

 

This won't be the last time these two meet, they need to build to beat the Heat.

Way to much can happen this off season to know for sure yet. Lots of good players will be on the move.

Boston seemed tired after game 5. Having to cover Lebron and DFade has to be taxing on the body. When the Heat role players contribute the way they did in the Finals and also Lebron playing at level he played at then I don't see how any team can beat them.

I think Maynor being back next season will be invaluable to the Thunder. Will allow Russ to play his natural 2 guard position and allow the bench to be more productive than just Harden (who lost a ton of money in the Finals).
