If you had to pick between Mike Trout or Bryce Harper today to build your team around, who would you pick? This question was asked on Pardon The Interruption a few days ago, and I'm curious who everyone else would go with.

I would choose Mike Trout.

So far this season:

Mike Trout- .333, 6 Home Runs, 26 RBI, 16 SB

Bryce Harper- .302, 7 Home Runs, 19 RBI, 4 SB

It's like saying pick which one you want to have sex with(should you be a single fella) : (Insert two hottest females here).

If I had the top pick and had to draft 1/2 I would take Trout due to higher character.

How have we seen either's character?

Hard question to answer. Your asking to choose between a potential superstar lead-off hitter with blazing speed or a potential superstar 3-hole hitter with unbelievable power. Either one you would pick would be your franchise player. In the end though, I would pick Harper.

There is just something about a left handed hitter with all the power potential that Harper has and I would take him to build my team around as a centerpiece...Trout is awesome in his own right and can flat out fly around the bases...I just feel like Trout won't be able to keep up the current power numbers he is putting up and will be more of a lead-off hitter most of his career...With Harper I feel like he has the chance to be a 3 or 4 hitter the rest of his career and his power will continue to get even better...I would also have to give Harper the edge on throwing arm and his Speed is still above average even though Trout is a lot faster...They both have very good plate discipline given their ages however I feel like Harper is also slightly better in that regard, It's hard to find a 10 year vet with the plate discipline that Harper has...

The lead-off spot is important but I feel like a potential 3 or 4 hitting power bat is even more important to build a team around...Guys as young as Harper with the combination of plate discipline/bat speed/power potential/throwing arm and ability of Harper don't come around very often, he was the Number 1 overall pick and deserved all the hype...Harper would be the Number 1 overall pick in almost any draft in any year...Trout is very very fast and that cant really be taught either and is also very young and advanced for his age but there is a reason he went at the end of the 1st Round, guys with Trouts abilities are a little more frequent than a guy like Harper...If I'm running a team, Give me the Big Bat and I'll find the Speedy lead-off hitter somewhere else...

Give me Harper...

A MLB talent evaluator told Buster Olney that Trout will be the best player in baseball by the end of next season.

That evaluator must have something against Canadians :D...Or maybe Votto is retiring after this season and we don't know it yet but he does :sssh::lol:...I also doubt he will be better than Matt Kemp, Josh Hamilton, Cargo etc...Trout may be the best lead-off hitter in baseball next year and for many years after that but I don't think he will ever become the best player in the game...

I can see it happening.

Harper 0-7 with 5ks I think I seen that right just now...Ill still take him :D

That's a clown effort at the plate, bro.

Harper has shown immaturity in the minors. I know your gonna say he is a kid, but so is Trout.
