Trout while being a highly touted player in his own right never had to deal with the media and hype that Harder did...Harper was being compared to the greats before ever even being drafted, he may have developed a big head but I dont see his attitude as a problem and his teammates have already praised his work ethic, maturity level for his age and character...

I have not seen much of Trout because I just haven't seen the Angels much on TV.

Based on what I've seen, speed, contact, baseball IQ. I'd say Harper has a (slight) edge in power and they're very comparable defensively IMO.

I'd take Trout simply because a superstar lead off hitter is very hard to find these days.

And I'm not saying Harper doesn't know what he's doing, just that from what I've seen Trout has a fantastic grasp on the game for such a youngster. Harper is up there as well though.

Trout also had a taste of the Big Leagues last year and while it was just a taste it was still 135 PA's...Even that small taste of the Bigs for such a young player could help his development in the off-season and give him a slight advantage that Harper didn't have...

I'd rather have Trout. It is easier to find a middle of the order guy than a leadoff hitter, especially one that has power.

I don't know about the next few years or 10 years down the road but it's hard to argue against Trout today.
