June 15, 201214 yr Disastrous is being kind to describe his 2011 season. He is now on pace in 2012 for 56 HR 128 RBI 100 Runs 125 BBs .940 OPS Because RTS will want me to I will also say he's on pace for 253 Ks.
June 15, 201214 yr I don't care if he K's 300 times. Those are some good numbers. Edited June 15, 201214 yr by HammerTime
June 15, 201214 yr I will also say that Joe Nathan has a chance as well...Another name is Stephen Strasburg but I don't know if he is considered a comeback or not, he put up good numbers last season but was limited to only 5 starts...Some guys that could get there by the end of the year are Adam Wainwright, Josh Johnson and Hanley Ramirez... Even with all those names thrown out there I would agree that at this point Adam Dunn has to be the favorite and he will have to absolutely tank the rest of the year to not win it...If he put up those projections or anywhere close for that matter his strikeout numbers really won't matter at all, he has always struck out...
June 15, 201214 yr Comeback player of the year and, more importantly to Adam, one day closer to retirement. :idunno:

June 15, 201214 yr IMO it's between Adam Dunn and Johan Santana at this point. There's a lot of season left though.
June 15, 201214 yr Comeback player of the year and, more importantly to Adam, one day closer to retirement. :idunno: And one more year closer to getting into the HOF?

June 15, 201214 yr And one more year closer to getting into the HOF? He should hit his 400th HR some time this year. He sits at 387. Do you think 550 gets him in? He is still only 32. It's possible he can get to 600. 6 More years with an average of 35 HR. Not likely but if he can mix in 1 or 2 seasons of 50 HR it's possible in the next few years it's possible.

I think he needs 550 to get strong consideration. I am not sure 500 HR is enough when that will be the sum and total of his HOF resume.
June 15, 201214 yr 600 with put him 9th All-Time and 550 would put him 15th. One thing working in his favor versus some of those others over 500 HR, no one has ever accused him of 'roiding it. That actually might earn him some favor with the voters.
June 15, 201214 yr I think he needs 550 to get strong consideration. I am not sure 500 HR is enough when that will be the sum and total of his HOF resume. 25 members of the 500 Homerun Club. 15 are in the HOF. 3 are still active (Manny Ramirez, Jim Thome, and A-Rod). 3 haven't been retired long enough to be on the ballot (Griffey Jr., Frank Thomas, Gary Sheffield). 4 are eligible but haven't been elected into the HOF: Barry Bonds, Mark McGwire, Sammy Sosa, and Rafael Palmeiro, all of whom have the performance enhancing drug monkey on their back. I say membership in the 500 Homerun Club is a pretty darn good start on getting in the Hall.
June 15, 201214 yr And one more year closer to getting into the HOF? And one step closer to the top the leader board of most career home runs without ever having played in a playoff game.
