New Reds Line-up

If these type of lineups would work, surely someone would have tried it by now.

I guess every manage in the MLB for the last 50 years has been missing out by not hitting it's best hitter in lead off. Imagine Josh Hamilton, Prince Fielder, or A-Rod in lead off. Sounds like the right spot for the guy on your team you expect to drive in the most runs. You automatically start off the game taking a possible RBI situation away from them.

I have always thought your best hitter should bat 3rd. I was just asking the question about adjusting the line-up because of the lack of OBP of our current 1 and 2 hitters. ALso, the 3 names you mentioned all play in the AL which completely changes the arguement. YOu don't have to ever worry about your pitcher hitting. I just think that baseball never thinks outside of the way that it has always been. I would tell you that i would consider this line-up if i was the home team because the 7 hole will hit in the 6th inning usually. I would want my starter to go 6 and then you could bat for him if needed. It was just a thought outside of the traditional way of running a team. The Reds lack a true leadoff and i was just looking for a way to create more scoring for a team that struggles to hit!!!!

I look real stupid now. Heisey and Cozart get on and Votto goes deep! Great timing for my arguement. NOT!!!!!!!! Alll well atleast the REDS are winning.

 I was just thinking about that. THAT is why he bats 3rd. :D

So now Hanigan is a better hitter than Bruce as well? Did you meet Bruce and he spit on you or something? Did he get on one of his hot streaks on a week you had to face him in a H2H fantasy league? What did he do to get you to this point?

Hanigan and Frazier are better hitters than Bruce and Phillips.

It's not that insane when he is the slowest player on the team and only played 3 or 4 days a week. I was an advocate for Hanigan hitting 2nd a while back but it's not going to happen.

Sure looks like Hammer is on the same page as me. (sorry hammer). :D

They do put the best hitters in the top of the lineup, correct?

Hanigan isn't an everyday player, so his numbers are flawed. When the Reds talk hit and run,HANIGAN is in the conversation NOT BRUCE. Sounds to me like I'm not the only one who thinks the way I do. :D Did you catch a foul ball and Bruce signed it for you?

Hanigan is not one of the Reds' best hitters ... not even close. However, he does know how to take a walk and get on base, something that on a team starved in OBP, could be used at the top of the order.

Dusty will never do it, though, because Hanigan is a catcher and can't run and doesn't fit his idea of what a leadoff hitter should be.

According to the batting averages:

Votto 359

Phillips 290

Hanigan 289

Frazier 276

Heizy 275

Cozart 258

BRUCE 252

These are the batting averages BEFORE tonights game.

Numbers don't lie, and no Dusty will never have Hanigan at the top of the order.

I was done posting on the baseball thread until somebody shook my cave. You all want to use numbers , there they are. Enjoy the game! :D

There is so much more to evaluating a hitter than batting average ...

Yeah he sucks... 3 run bomb.

Yeah he sucks... 3 run bomb.

Does one three one bomb equal 2 strike outs ? The last one coming with two runners on base and the third strike he swung like a little girl. Good thing Homer threw a great game and the Reds didn't need any more runs.

Just remember numbers don't mean anything, their a double edge sword. So I've learned a lot from this thread. Batting averages don't mean anything ( that's why they show them everytime a batter comes to the plate) and strike outs don't mean anything(that's why the strike out victims walk back to the dougout about ready to cry. Then they tip their batting hemet to the croud and smile). Yea, that's it.

Time for me to focus on football. I hope Bruce doesn't let the Reds down come crunch time.

Nice chatting with you all, time to focus on football.

I'd say concentrating on football is your best bet. Then again you probably thought William Perry was a better RB than Walter Payton because his TD to rushing attempts ratio was better.

Saw antiqes road show, a woman had a Sweetness football jersey that had beed worn , had rips repaired, bloostained, and downright nasty. It was valued at 40,000 dollars.

I was headed to bed ,so I thought I'd check this thread one more time.I'm glad I did, but I expected it to be hammer time, but I'm glad it was you.

One thing about message boards, you never know what reaction you are going to get because everyone gets something different out of what they read. Ironic, the people on the football threads say the same thing about me going to the baseball threads. I know alot about football and baseball, (I READ ALOT).

I also know about people on message boards, they all think they know everything about every sport that they talk about. I'm not a troll but I look for things that are contraversial (SP) to hear the reaction of other message board members.

As soon as Bruce hit that three run homer in to nights game, I figured Hamertime would be burning up the keyboard, and I was right.

Last and least, again I have nothing against Bruce, I wish him and the Reds well. MY OPINION is that he's not performing to all the hype he gets, but, wrong or right that's my opinion, take it or leave it.On the football threads I have NEVER said anything to degrade any team or person on ALL MY POSTS. I might take a look at this thread later but not going to reply. You say concentrating on football is my best bet, that is your opinion and you are entitled to it.

Hamertime it's been nice, I yanked your chain and got some reactions from you and others. No need to keep the spotlight on Bruce , I watch the games too. When Bruce screws up or does good I will know.

. Have a great life.
