June 19, 201214 yr Author So you handicap your lineup through the first 2 innings at least. If they go 3 up and 3 down all 3 times Votto leads off again. I know they have scored 8 Runs so far tonight, but tonight is an example of what i was talking about. Votto has batted 4 times tonight with no one on base. This does not help him with driving in runs. 4 AB's and no one on base, not an efficient line-up.

June 19, 201214 yr Let's not forget Hanigan is batting in front of the pitcher, which leads sometimes to more walks, especially when they need a "safer" out with the pitcher.
June 25, 201214 yr Author I know everyone thought i was crazy when i posted about changing the line-up and batting Votto leadoff. Friday night and today we had 2 hitters bat 5 times. Heisey and Valdez today, Cozart and Heisey on Friday night. I want Votto to bat 5 times every game. If we had 2 guys in front of him that got on base over 40% of the time then i definately want him hitting 3rd, but they dont! Get him as many AB's as possible and put Phillips and Bruce in position to try and knock him in. These 2 games were perfect examples of what i was talking about

This would increase the number of times the leadoff hitter would bat with runners on base. Also, it would be interesting to see how many times the 3,4, and 5 hitters all hit in the same inning? I would consider them our best hitters and wonder how often they get split up?
