Just to clarify - the 12.6% is not the percent of salary but the amount of the insurance cost. If a family plan is around $10,000 (not sure what their plan is) this means an increase of around $700 a year or so. So they would be paying around $1,300 for their insurance a year. That is still a heck of deal on health insurance by any measure.

Me too. We've over $5,000 for a family plan through my wife's employer (Federal government) and I thought that was pretty good!

Your contribution or the overall cost of the plan? Family plans have been well into the thousands for quite awhile for the overall cost even if the employer covers the majority of it behind the scenes.

This is just what I pay. The family plan is well over $10K a year. If my memory serves correctly, when I started with IRS in 2001, we paid 25%, and the government paid 75%. I believe that the ratio has narrowed but I do not know the exact numbers off hand. I believe this is one of the many reasons why we continue to work as federal employees, because you won't find many if any places in the private sector who have better overall benefits.

The $869 per month is the total cost of the plan. Employee contributions vary by length of service. We have a very nice census which helps keep our costs low though.

Being a pinko lib, I don't agree with some of the initiatives; especially the cuts in educatioin.

Agreed! I don't see why they had a recall, and I don't see him retaining the governorship as anything against unions or anything else! I feel most voters won't recall a governor unless there was gross misconduct.

Nope, not at all. I don't care if Williams won in KY and they had a recall (BTW we can't) I would not be too happy with spending millions on one single issue, he would have been elected for 4 years so he will serve 4 years, unless there was gross misconduct.

Just as I did not like the idea of very large amounts of money being pumped into the recent primary from out of state. Yes, the 4th will have a republican, but I would rather see the money come from around here, and not from around the country. Who is he going to "owe" when he gets into office?
