An attempt to evaluate the possible trade market for the Reds...

Featured Replies

Bob Nightengale and Buster Olney are saying Reds front office and staff really like Pierre and think he could be key to a postseason run. Say he'd be cheap and is a great clubhouse presence.

Where would you play him, and who would you sit? Who gets dropped from the 25 man roster?

I think it would really hurt the defense. I hope the Reds don't trade Stubbs for Choo.

I'd trade Stubbs for Choo straight up so fast it would make Marty's hair fall out before it's shaved.

Not me. I believe it severely weakens the defense.

I'd say it would weaken it, but not severely. They'd make up for it with the improvement they'd be getting at the plate.

No clue, I'm just relaying what's being said.

I was asking your opinion, not Walt's or Dusty's.

The Reds are 57-14 when they score 3 runs or more. I don't see enough need for offensive improvement to weaken your defense. This team was built on pitching and defense. I say you stick with that.

I would assume, since he's left-handed, they'd drop Xavier Paul down to AAA. I wouldn't be surprised to see them platoon Pierre, Ludwick, Heisey, and Stubbs amongst LF and CF. Not sure how it'd work out, but that'd be my assumption.

Sounds to me like you're still giving Dusty or Walt's take or perhaps I'm wrong. Would you keep Cairo over Paul?

Would I? No. That's not what's going to happen though. Paul would be a 6th OF'er. Cairo, as poor as he's been, still gives them some versatility by being able to play 3 IF positions.

Sounds like the Dodgers are the leading candidate to land Victorino and the Reds have zeroed in on Pierre. I would assume he'd cost them a mid-level prospect or two. Think he's a perfect fit for the Reds.

Do you think the Reds could possibly pry away Emilio Bonifacio from the Marlins? They are in sell mode. He could play some short, left field, and center field. He is a left handed bat and could hit at the top of the order.

They aren't willing to deal him but he would be a great fit.

Ah, those "great clubhouse presence" guys ... isn't that what they say about veterans that aren't actually that good?
