Yes, I have watched the film on Scouts top 60 Wr & I have checked thier competition level out on maxpreps. I have I also checked up scouts top 70 RB's film & let me tell you, Dawkins should ranked much much higher than 48th base off game film & competition level he should be top 15 or better. I'm now checking out the top 70 qb's film.

I don't believe Quick has the height that, for instance, some of the recent SEC receivers had, such as those at Bama, Georgia and S. Carolina. Maybe this has an effect in the rankings.

Quick is awesome and one of the best WR's to come out of KY in a long time...He is top 30 in the country according to Rivals and I don't know how you can complain about that given the talent level in KY vs FL, TX, CA etc...If many of us lived in these states we would see guys like Quick every year, he is very good and his ranking shows it but he is probably not top 10 or top 100 overall of all positions in the nation or whatever you guys feel he should be...In KY he is the #1 overall player and the #1 WR...If he was in FL he would be the #7 WR, If he were in TX he would be #8, in CA he would be #4...In FL he would be the #34th best overall player, in TX he would be 27th overall and in CA he would be 23rd overall...

 

These states are traditional powerhouses and the majority of the WR's ranked above him are from these 3 states alone...Not including OH, PA, GA, LA, etc I would say that both his WR ranking and Overall Ranking are fair...He would compete well in these other states but his ranking would more than likely not go up, It might actually go down due to the level of competition in these other states...Now I will say that he plays at one of the few schools in KY that play a challenging schedule but I will still say it is nothing like playing every FRI night in TX, FL, CA, etc...James Quick is a stud and just to be considered Top 250 in the entire country and a Top 30 WR in the entire country is quite an accomplishment...I am not knocking the kid at all just justifying his ranking and trying to be realistic...In the powerhouse states there are many receivers every year with the same qualities as Quick, some are believe it or not better, taller and face competition equal to that of Trinity....17 or the 25 WR's ahead of Quick have better size and just as good of speed, in KY Quick is the only receiver you will see with that combination of size and speed maybe for years and years...

 

Now everyone can jump on me for knocking a KY kid, when in reality I am giving him props but also trying to be realistic...He is the best WR prospect from the state since Aaron Boyd who was also top 40 in the country, it hasn't turned out well for Boyd...However I do honestly feel like Quick is a much better prospect than Boyd was, Boyd had better size though...

Go check his state and track record in the 200 meters from a few weeks ago. He set a record that NO ONE at UL has ever run. As a junior in high school. He ran the equivalent of two 10.4 100M in the same race. To say he has elite speed is an understatement and a disservice to his talent...

He has great speed and is a great player, I have no problem acknowledging that...I was simply trying to bring people down from their High Horse in thinking that he got hosed by not being Top 10...According to ESPN he ran a 4.72 40 and is ranked 8th, in comparison the fastest receiver ran Leandrew Gordon from Arlington TX and a Kansas St. commit ran a 4.30 40 and isn't even ranked...

Other sites have him listed in the 4.4's. You can't really evaluate anything based off what 40's times are. Probably the most over-hyped "test" at combines on all levels.

Quick will be the very first to tell you that he doesn't perform well in combine like activities. That is why he doesn't attend many. The kid is a gamer.

Being top 30 is awesome but Mr. Quick should be ranked top 5 in any prospect ranking. He is a complete elite Wr. The kids height isn't an issue he is 6'1. again based off game film & competition level. If you want to look into this view the game film of some of the Wr ranked higher. For competition level just go to Maxpreps. They rank every H.S. in the nation. maxpreps also had listed the 10 toughest schedules. Trinity had the 3rd toughest. Quick had the best numebers of any WR who faced a schedule like that. Dawkins also had the best numbers for a RB who faced a schedule like that. of the Teams who were in the top 10 for toughest schedules there were only 3 WR who had 1000 yards recieveing Quick had almost 1,500 yards & the other 2 WR had right at 1000 yards. For RBs there were 4 who had 1000 yards. Dawkins had almost 2000 yards the next closet to him was 1200 yards. So it not that I'm being bias toward them, those are the facts.

While you might be trying to make a valid point, your stance that just because he is from KY he would be less of a prospect in the power states is so far off base I don't know where to begin.

 

I'm not being extremely biased about anything. Quick is simply the complete package at WR, and is one of the high level, elite WRs in the country. ESPN, Scout and 247 have him properly graded, and at the moment Rivals does not. When the other 3 have him Top 10 at WR and as high as 3, that should tell you something...
