Wrongly accused ex-football star hoping NFL team gives him a shot

Featured Replies

I hope Banks gets a shot too. However, I think his false accuser should be locked up for the rest of her life:

Last year, Gibson contacted Banks on Facebook, telling him she felt guilty about making up the rape allegations. She asked if they could "let bygones be bygones," though she said she did not want to admit her lie to prosecutors for fear of having to give back the $1.5 million settlement she won from Long Beach Unified School District after filing a lawsuit accusing the school of poor security.

Additionally, every penny and interest should be taken back and it should be given to Banks.

I said the same thing on the Opposing Views Facebook page.

Saw this yesterday. Sad story.

"I'm sorry, but I don't want to have to give back the money".........are you kidding me, she needs to be locked up and maybe this kind of stuff would stop.

Couldn't agree more.

How sad is that the best legal option he had was to cop a plea!

I agree and furthermore I think it is terrible that a woman can do something like this to a man on only her word with little or no actual proof. Additionally, cases like this largely rely on the "victims" word when the "victim" can have several potential reasons to lie.

Some of those reasons are:

1. Mentally ill

2. Upset/revenge with the guy because she thought they were going to have a relationship beyond the sex

3. Thought she might be preggo from the encounter

4. Excuse to her boyfriend/husband to explain her whereabouts

5. Thought she might have picked up a STD

6. Feeling guilty or ashamed of herself

7. Alcohol and/or drug involvement

8. And if I didn't mention it in the #1 position because they have some mental issues

I hope Banks gets a shot too. However, I think his false accuser should be locked up for the rest of her life:
At least she should spend the same time in prison as he did, I really wish they would make a law like this, if you accuse someone and they spend time in jail/prison, if it is found out you lied you will spend time in jail/prison equal to the one you accused.

..and how mean must your mom be if you think it's better to falsely accuse a kid and send him to jail rather than tell your mom you're sexually active!

Since the girl was a minor at the time, if the mother knew it was a lie shr should spend the same amount of time in prison as well.

Very sad. He should be paid what she was paid. But as far as an NFL tryouts, many high school stars went to college and flamed out. Easy chief. I understand you want to pick up your life where it ended. But you gotta "crawl, walk, then run." -Sen. Clay Davis

The former high-school football star and USC recruit who was jailed based on false testimony wants a shot at the NFL. Brian Banks also seeks compensation for his wrongful imprisonment.

According to the Associated Press, Banks will seek $100 per day for every day of his five-year imprisonment from the state of California. It’s a sum less than $200,000 — a far cry from fair compensation for five years behind bars.

Why on earth would they not charge her with perjury or fraud or something?!

The women's rights activists would come out of the woodwork if they did claiming this will discourage other rape victims from coming forward.
