I know for a fact that Coach Thacker is interested. BUT: The time has to be right. What I mean by time, he is not the type of guy that wants to spend the summer coaching his girls team then turn his back on them and accept the boys job.

 

1. He would never do that to the girls.

2. It is unfair for the boys to go a summer being coached by a fill in assistant - Thacker would miss out on installing his style of play.

 

Not sure what the plan is a FCHS but it sounds to me if you are doing what is best about KIDS you fill the position as soon as you can. I am sure there are plenty of applications and folks ready to take the job.

Buckett, as someone who lives and works in Frankfort you should know better then anyone that its never about the kids at Franklin County Public Schools, eastside or westside. As an alumni I know first hand. I agree that it isnt fair to have the kids play all summer then take the chance of getting someone new with all new ideas they have to install. Just puts the kids and program behind.

I would think that the new principal would want to get this out of the way so they can focus on the school over the summer. That said, it would be easiest to hire from within. If Thacker was the choice they would then have to hire a girls coach. Suppose that starts it all over again on the girls thread.

I would think there would be quite a bit of interest in this job. Franklin Co has a solid tradition that I would think would appeal to many coaches.

 

There is some good young talent that needs developing, and a very good athlete in Ryan Timmons that will be a senior. Not sure if Timmons will play as football is his #1 sport. The college that signs him may not want him to play. There are other experienced players that need attitude adjustments that Chalk had a very difficult time with last season. Whoever takes the job will have a challenge with some of those players.

 

Chalk had solid Booster support from the beginning. He was provided with everything he asked for and them some.

I know this will be tough on the players to wait for decision on a coach, but with a new principal and superintendent coming on board I can understand why this may take longer than normal. Best in the long run to get a coach/teacher that the new school administration is comfortable with.

If Coach Thacker wants it? Then the search should be over before it starts. It would be an upgrade without a doubt.

Coach Thacker is no longer interested in the job. He has decided he has a good gig and with his daughter playing soon he would rather make sure the girls has a good coach.

 

I think Nick Barton should be given a shot.

How about Daniel Griffith? Former Greenup standout who has done a great job as an asst to Scott Hundley at Woodford County. Young and energetic.
