Any idea who they are interviewing?

From what I have heard so far 21 applicants, not sure how many have been or will be interviewed. Tommy Johnson and Nick Barton have interviewed, not sure who else has been yet.

What can you tell us about these two applicants.

Johnson was an assistant under Chalk, now is an assistant at Lafayette. Barton is the current assistant/interim. Barton has taken over after Chalk left and has been doing a terrific job with these kids.

Was Tony Wise on the interview list?

I did not believe so.

The ability to build relationships is an attribute the new coach will need in this job. In my opinion Chalk was unable to lead last years team with regard to playing team ball on a consistent basis. I witnessed kids disrespecting the coaches on a regular basis during the games. There were some very negative attitudes on last years team and many are returning. It will be a challenge for the new coach to change these attitudes. It may take letting some of these players know they better get on board with a team attitude or stand in line to buy their ticket to get into the games. The program was not left in good shape with regard to team attitude and doing what is in the best interest of the program. I think Chalk was in a situation where he needed to leave. The program needs to be renovated with a coach with a new approach.

If he was not on the interview list I think it was

a mistake. The committee should have looked at all options. I'm not saying he should get the job, but why not interview him as well as other qualified candidates. Due diligence is just good business.

And you wonder why the kids act the way they do.

Is this hire official? If so, I will need to close this thread and start a new one on the new coach. Thanks for any info.
