I heard they were more to be interviewed

Everything is subject to change at Franklin County. Certain people well actually one person in this town has told 5 different people that have applied for the job that "I'll do anything it takes to get you the job." Everything is so political it makes me sick. Instead of looking out for you and your middle school kid how about we do whats right for the school and the kids who are here. Let the administration and athletic director do their job, that's what they get paid to do.

Whether they interview anyone else or not, the job should go to Tommy Johnson or Nick Barton. In my opinion they would be the best options for the kids and for the school.

I'm not saying these 2 wouldn't be good choices (don't know enough about either), but some have suggested on this thread that Chalk had lost control and needed to go; therefore, I would you want to bring a Chalk disciple in if that is the case. Wouldn't you be better off to start from scratch?

I'm not sure I would characterize either of these as a "Coach Chalk disciple". Although I never saw either have what I would call a "stand your ground" moment in public with any of the shortcomings of Coach Chalk, I would hope there were some conversations that went on behind the scenes. A knowledgeable interviewer should explore in detail.

 

Of the two, Coach Johnson would have the more experience. His drawback would be that he does live in Lexington with his wife and young child. Would they consider a move to Frankfort? Those evening practices/games are even tougher if you live too far to get home for a break after school.

How far can a Varsity coach live from the school community before it hinders their ability/commitment to build a quality program? It's not the kind of job where you can work remotely.....building relationships to students/school/community does matter.

Very good points here BlueFan. Many I agree with. I would say TJ is his own man and will make his mark as a head coach when given the opportunity. Proximity to the school I think is an issue.

Does not matter now because Tommy Johnson is the new coach. Hired about an hour ago.

From what I know, I don't think FC could go wrong with Coach Barton or Coach Johnson. Good luck to Tommy, and I hope Coach Barton stays around.
