Pretty good read, amazed J. Wright talked about It.

Obama team tried to 'bribe' Jeremiah Wright to keep quiet: book - NYPOST.com

Rev. Wright is hurt because Obama was thinking big picture and "sold out" in his eyes. Michael Jordan sold out. He made it cool to sell out. And that was Jordan's gift and curse to the black community. He made it cool to sell out. But no way Obama gets elected if Rev. Wright is still affiliated with him in November. Good political move by Obama.

I was thinking the same thing.

How is it ever a good move to bribe your own preacher?

You either believe your preacher or you dont, you either stand with him or you dont.

How do you not do either of the above if you went to church there for over 20 years. Is that called a sell out? And is that turning your back on your beliefs and GOD for the power of the Presidency?

Looks like he chose not to stand with him and offered him some change on the way out. Standing with Rev. Wright was the wrong move politically.

Sounds to me that he came to his senses and realized what an idiot the Rev Wright was .

OR sounds to me like after 20 yrs + of listening and believeing him he turned his back on his religious leader and GOD. If you leave for political gain, then what kind of person really are you. Stand for something or dont stand at all.

Are you saying if you turn your back on a religious leader/preacher that you are also turning your back on God? Explain that logic to me.

If I go to church and listen and agree with everything my preacher says (NO REASON NOT TOO

Sigh. Didn't we have a thread a while back on the difference between a politician and a statesman? He did the right thing politically but doing the right thing politically often means throwing courage out the window. It is what it is.

He threw his church out the window for political gain, like selling your soul.

The question needs to be asked does he believe what Rev. Wright said? Not why did he turn his back.

"Reverend" Wright did not preach the word of God, certainly not consistently. Obama didn't turn his back on God, he turned his back on Wright's racist hate-mongering messages - the same messages that he apparently did not have any problem with for 20 years until some of the more egregious remarks were broadcast in the media. He sold out on Wright, no doubt. God? Not so much.

Oh he sold out on Wright just in time for election, what was wrong with the other 20 yrs he believed his hate. If Wright wasn't for God, then what kind of Christian is Obama then. What did he learn about God then from his spiritual advisor?

Sounds to me that he came to his senses and realized what an idiot the Rev Wright was .

The question is would he have "Realized" the idiot Rev Wright was if he wasn't running for President....none of US will ever know one way or the other.
