The Scoop: Often what's notable about Corcino is his Rolex-like consistency. He hasn't had many sensational outings this year in his first season at Double-A, but only once in 13 starts has he given up more than three runs. While many young pitchers will show you a great outing followed by an awful one because they're not yet able to consistently repeat their delivery, Corcino has a pretty good idea of what his stuff will be before he takes the mound.

 

And Corcino's stuff is plus, which means he can be spectacular, like he was this week. He threw the first eight innings of a combined no-hitter last Saturday. The Reds pulled Corcino from the game because he hit 110 pitches at the end of eight innings. He told reporters after the game that his goal is to finish his own no-hitter the next time.

ESPN Podcats "Fantasy Focus Baseball" and "Baseball Today" both spoke of Hamilton this week. Baseball Today spoke on him for a decent amount, about how terrified pitchers are of him as they have had "x" amount of balks with him on base.

He definitely has a mental effect on pitchers...I think he could be an effective pinch runner in october if the Reds get that far, but I doubt they would want to do it...

Good signs so far tonight...Billy Hamilton is playing so his injury wasnt serious, he is 1-2 with a walk and 2 RBIs so far tonight...Also Phipps and Lutz are back they are both rehabbing tonight for the AZL Reds...

Hamilton now has a 14% BB rate to go along with his 16% K rate. For the year, his obp is over .425, his SB rate is over 84% and his slugging is over .450.

 

Last ten games, he's hitting .400, with 11 BBs and 6 Ks. He's also stolen at least one base in nine of the past 10 games.

 

In June's 20 games (97 ABs), Hamilton has the following numbers:

 

.370/ 21 BB/ 13 Ks/ 33 SB/ 5 CS /.505 OBP/ .452 SLG/ .957 OPS

 

He has showed some real signs of improved plate discipline with an improved eye at the plate...
