Anti-Bullying Speaker Curses Christian Teens

Featured Replies

From the objections I read earlier, they were more to the point of it being unacceptable to have their views challenged, not necessarily being insulted.

The kids were not there to have a discussion about their faith or their views on Christianity or the Holy Bible.

Bull Crap! You have a captive audience of KIDS! They were there to hear a speach on Bullying, and got a prime example of bullying by the speaker! He belittled Christians and the Holy Bible. I gaurantee you that a whole bunch of liberals would be ballistic if a conservative had gone in there and slammed Islam, or the Koran.

All I ever said is that I wish the kids wouldn't have walked out and that I wouldn't have if I was there. All religions are the same to me. This liberal is cooling, son.

I think the video is less damning than the original report.

I heard him saying the Bible was used as an excuse to somehow justify or turn a blind eye towards bullying. Sure he said a naughty word but it wasn't one that should elicit many people leaving. You saw kids leaving before he even said anything about pansies. They left as soon as they heard a naughty word and when he started to point out what he found to be hypocrisy.

We sometimes go overboards in "protecting" our children. I've done it. I'd say this is one of those times.

If nothing else I hope those kids went home and considered what he found to be hypocritical and gave it critical thought or talked to adults about it. If so, they benefited.

Without the video, the aforementioned article makes it seem like the guy was a screaming, raging lunatic. His actual presentation was much calmer than I expected. So on that much, I agree

I do, however, believe it is actually Mr. Savage who comes across as grossly hypocritical & the one most needing assistance in how to deal with having your beliefs challenged--or in this case, ignored.

Immaterial.

All that concerns me is that if those kids can't handle their views being challenged, they need to find another profession.

How on earth were they challenged? They had their religion thrown in their face, and Bible was cussed, no challenge there.

If he would have went about it like "you know the Bible may not always portray a true meaning or something like that", but no, he took it overboard. Those kids aren't getting paid to hear this either, pay me enough money and you can get up their and mock and make a FOOL of yourself all you want, let it be free and I don't have to listen to crap. No pay, no stay.

Agreed. Didn't watch the video until this post and it wasn't anything like I expected. He's obviously coming from a particular perspective, but I didn't see anything untoward in there.

Wow oh wow, after reading about what he has done and said, why on earth would he ever be invited to speak to anyone, let alone kids.

Conservative columnist Michelle Malkin told Fox News Savage has a long history of controversial behavior.

“He had a few marbles missing,” Malkin said. “He is most infamous for breaking into the campaign offices of former GOP president candidate and social conservative Gary Bauer – and licking the door knobs of the office – because he happened to be sick and wanted to infect them with his cold virus.”

“Right there you know this is not someone you should be sending into public schools to talk with children about things like bullying,” she said.

In a 2010 interview with Newsweek, Savage said, “F*** John McCain.” He also called Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia a “c***sucker.” According to the Big Government website, Savage stated that he wanted to “f*** the s**t” out of then-presidential candidate Rick Santorum. That incident occureed on an episode of Real Time with Bill Maher.

And some of you defend this garbage guy. What has our world come to.

Who has defended him? Show me one post in this thread where anyone has defended him. Most posts I have seen have been people saying the kids need tougher skin, Savage isn't a journalist and that he should be speaking to college aged kids and not high school kids. I can't recall off the top of my head anybody saying he is right or that he should have said what he said.

You want to blame someone then blame the organizers of the convention who had him speaking to high school age kids in the first place.

Defending him to me means that posters are fine with what was said and find nothing wrong with it and actually saying a bunch of high school kids should have to listen to him.

With what part? He can express his beliefs. I don't think he should have insulted the kids that left. I don't think the kids should have left. He should be speaking to college aged kids and not high school kids. The convention organizers are at fault in my eyes. Am I defending him?

That's a leap of logic.
