June 6, 201214 yr This would really concern me if they allow media to use this. People put up walls and fences for a reason. If the media is able to fly a plane over the yard of someone, it would have to violate their expectation of privacy. If it isn't a matter of public concern, such as police flying over to search for marijuana plants or other illegal activity, then they should not have a right to do it. I still can't believe that you don't need a search warrant to fly over someone's closed-in yard, not open field, but yard. One of the single most colossal wastes of time and money ever. Our law enforcement officers should be more concerned about something like, oh, how about white collar crime? Our country would be doing a lot better by locking up scrummy greedheads who are gaming the system and bilking the country for all it's worth.
June 7, 201214 yr I'm sure they already do this without us knowing about it."The machine" is always watching. It knows everything!
June 8, 201214 yr I am not really doing anything bad outside, maybe they can help me find my golf balls.
June 8, 201214 yr I wish they would fly the drones and bomb all convicted child molesters with them, but that would be to painless for them. And I don't mean the 18 yr old boy who had sex with a 17 yrold girl. The little bitty kids who don't have a chance.
June 8, 201214 yr Aside from the privacy issue...my first thought was the safety issue (and it's on several fronts). First, who's going to be "piloting" these things? Are there 30,000 qualified and trustable people out there to do this? What if they lose control of it and it crashes into a school? Will the justification of it being up there in the first place be enough? Second, what about the safety of the air space? Are there going to be different "levels", where planes are allowed at a certain height, and drones at another? And what happens when one of them strays out of that altitude? Again, if there's a collision (and possible loss of life)... Also, if these things start becoming more commonplace and accessible outside of the military...are we not potentially opening up the door for terrorists to use them? Instead of having to take control of an airliner, now it's just a matter of stealing/building a drone and flying it downtown. Granted, you may not be able to bring down a building like the WTC, but still, packed with the right type of explosives, I'd imagine you could still do some harm. Just some thoughts.
