April 16, 201214 yr Author Teague has been solid all year long. Jeff Teague Stats, News, Videos, Highlights, Pictures, Bio - Atlanta Hawks - ESPN He's probably played up to an endorsement contract now, but at the time I doubt Nike thought he was the next up and comer or anything. Not for that type of money anyway. He was already on a small deal so why go out and pay him more until he shows he can even crack the rotation? Especially for a team that has at least five or six guys ahead of him as far as star potential. I mean I doubt he was going to help their Atlanta market explode when they had guys like Josh Smith, Joe Johnson, Horford, Marvin Williams, and heck until the waiver period last season even somebody like Mike Bibby already established. So no doubt to me even as a UK fan it smells fishy, but truth of the matter is everyone just needs to understand its the business. There isn't a black area and a white area, there is just one huge grey area that fuels the basketball industry. AAU, college recruiting, agent scouting, etc. is just filthy and eventually the top will blow off of it. At the rate its going and with the current system in place its not going to get any better so I guess the best thing you can do is be cool with it and say well that's just how it goes. Eventually though something major is going to shake up the system because you have way too many grown adults trying to get a piece of these kids and have their own agendas and purposes. There are also plenty of others involved who want nothing but the best for these kids and try to help them succeed. But bottom line is when something eventually breaks or a major story comes out that changes how we look at things, and more importantly how the NCAA looks at things this is how its going to be. Right now basketball circles not only run AAU circles, they are now branching into the college levels and even the NBA. Calipari just happens to be in a pretty ideal circle, and "the family" takes care of one another. Plus it doesn't hurt Kentucky is a big time Nike school, especially for basketball. Had heard something last year that Kentucky was going to become the Nike signature school and replace Duke in the role. Meaning of course Kentucky would always get the newest gear like Duke has in the past. Like same jersey design as olympic team back in 08', first to get to wear aerographic design uniforms (now almost every nike school has them it seems), etc. If that is true (because I haven't really heard much else about it) then its only going to add to the power. Basketball is no longer just a game, it has become big business, and business is booming.
April 16, 201214 yr It all makes sense now so THAT is why John Wall signed with Reebok once he left Kentucky!? I know he played for D One sports which is a Reebok sponsored team it always struck me as odd that a number one pick signed with Reebok of all companies. Now I get it :dancingpa

August 15, 201214 yr Author Will be rather ironic if Adidas ends up shooting itself in the foot... Way too ironic. With that said though I think the NCAA would like to see the UCLA of old and not the UCLA of the last couple of years. Thus, I can see him sitting a game or two but ultimately be good to go.
August 15, 201214 yr Do these allegations hold any water? Granted the must have a small element of truth to them for them to start an investigation into it.
