Hardest everything....

When I saw this new thread, the first thing I thought was "I'll have to click on here and post Cordia" but looks like someone else agrees with me. If you're up 20 at halftime @ Cordia, then you better be ready to respond the second half because you'll be lucky to be up 8 after the 3rd quarter. Also you'll have to do it all while listening to the little man chant: Cor-dia-Lions

In the Ninth Region, my picks are Holy Cross and Boone County. Hard for visiting teams to play well there for some reason.

 

I'd agree with Boone County - it's not a huge gym and it is often times filled to capacity. Also, the band makes it loud in there and gives it a great atmosphere.

 

I'd rank the toughest places to play like this, in the 9th region:

1a. Highlands

1b. Covington Catholic

2. Boone County

3. Holy Cross

I never thought Highlands was a tough place to play. CovCath has a great student section, but I think it's a fun place to play, because of the enviroment. I'd put CCH behind Holy Cross and Boone for hard places for visitors to play.

I agree. Besides the regional game last year when Harrison Co. upset Mason Co. on their home floor, Mason Co. won something like 60 straight games there.

Your are so right about that. I think they there is no better atmopshere for high school basketball than the 10th Region Tournament at the Fieldhouse.

In NKY I'd vote for Holy Cross as the hardest place to play (win)!! Small, loud, occasionally slippery and the home team's physicality seems to be invisible!!

My neighbor's house growing up. He did not have concrete but gravel and the ball would take some funny bounces.

Absolutely the best atmosphere, but most I talk to say it's a pleasure to play there; especially during the tourney.

In the 9th I would say Highlands and Holy Cross are tough because it is so tight. Both end lines at HC and the one at Highlands along with the benches on one side and fans on the other make the court seem much smaller.

As for Atmosphere, I would go with CovCath and NewCath for the student sections and Holmes Fieldhouse can be intimidating because of the size.

 

Toughest place that I got to play was at Lexington Sayre. Thank goodness their team was not very good. What a cracker box that was.

I agree with Cordia! If you can make it down the stairs to the gym, that is a victory!! Had some great teams in the early 90's and very tough place to win a ballgame!!

9th Region

 

1. CCH -not so much the gym, but the atmosphere

2. Holy Cross -personally I shot well there but i've seen alot of teams struggle in the Covington Matchbox. Worst Away Locker Rooms Ever.

3. Boone Co.- Old Gym is just hard to get used too. Locker rooms are second worst to HC.

4. Highlands-Its very hard to win at Highlands, unless your the Bluebirds. Also have some of the worst Away Locker rooms in the state.

5. Dixie-Worst Lighting I've ever seen in any building. Hurts your eyes just to play there.

It seems our team always has trouble winning anything at Jackson County, regardless of the talent we have. We always seem to get two or three key players in foul trouble early in the first half. We're neighboring counties but in different regions......that may have something to do with it LOL....and I'm sure the Jackson County fans feel the same way when they come to Owsley County (however, they're not playing this year for the first time in a while).

I personally think its CovCath, reminds me alot of Cameron Indoors on a high scool level because of the small gym and huge student section.
