I've actually played pickup there and even used to practice there when I was younger. Love how the backboards are stuck on the sides of the balcony.

 

I bet the Falmouth vs. Butler games were exciting to watch!

Feds Creek was a hard place to play. You could beat them by 50 at your home and loose to them at Feds Creek. It was just a ruff gym to play in.

I have to go with the Fieldhouse,Very tough to come into and get a win even when the other team might be the favorite.Toughest place in the 10th i can remember to get a win would have to have been the old Maysville Bulldogs Gym Now known as Earl D Jones court.It was tough to go in there and beat the Bulldogs.

I was gonna say Clay County for several reasons, the main ones being the excitement of their fans, the tradition, and the passion they have for the program throughout the entire county. However, I wasn't gonna even mention the officiating, but since you brought it up, ... I find it bordering on hilarious that a Tiger fan would ever talk about other teams having officials helping them win games. Could there be a little jealousy having a new team to the region steal another's thunder? :sssh:

 

I guess South can thank the refs for giving them last year's state title and if they win it again in 2006, they will have to continue sending out Christmas and birthday cards to officials throughout the state who have called their games the past few years to help them be one of the best teams in the state, even beyond the 13th region.

 

You was not gonna to say Clay County!! If you were, you obviously haven't been to game at Clay in the past 9 or 10 years. During the regular season Clay probably averages around 350 to 400 quiet fans. The students don't even get interested till tourney time. It's sad but true.

 

The Cardinals don't need referees to help them win games, they do a fine job of winning on their own. The defending state champs with a Mr. Basketball candidate will get some well deserved breaks, if you will. The comment I made is being taken wrong, I should have left it out.

 

Homers are everywhere man, no more in Clay than any other county. For some reason it just seems to sting a little more when it happens at Clay.

 

As far as being jealous about another team stealing the thunder, aint no thunder been stolen yet. Clay may not win the region this year but make no mistake, the thunder is coming along with some lightning! :fight:

 

Speaking of jealousy...Every time someone that might be from Clay makes a bold or sideways comment on BGP they get hammered like no other. It shows me that Clay is right up there in the front of a lot of people's mind. HMMMM, let's see, JEALOUSY??? OINK! :banana:

9th Region

 

1. Highlands- the place is so small and I feel like the visitors never get any calls

2. Cov Cath- best student section in the state provides a great atmosphere and an intimidating place to play

3. Holy Cross- awkward setup for a gym and its small size make for a tough game

Toughest places to play for the visitors in NKY

 

1. Highlands- dark and HHS fans always in your face

2. CovCath- student section provides many distractions

3. Brossart- always felt like BB fans dominated the arena

4. Boone County- big gym, good crowd, just overall nice facility

5. Holy Cross- especially for the 35th rivalries....

9th Region

 

1. CCH -not so much the gym, but the atmosphere

2. Holy Cross -personally I shot well there but i've seen alot of teams struggle in the Covington Matchbox. Worst Away Locker Rooms Ever.

3. Boone Co.- Old Gym is just hard to get used too. Locker rooms are second worst to HC.

4. Highlands-Its very hard to win at Highlands, unless your the Bluebirds. Also have some of the worst Away Locker rooms in the state.

5. Dixie-Worst Lighting I've ever seen in any building. Hurts your eyes just to play there.

At Holy Cross, we don't have much to work with . The building was very poorly designed, the away locker room seems smaller because of the four poles in the middle. Also, with the slippery floor and amazingly warm gym, there is very little ventilation in there, and with all of the sweating players and fans, the water in the air condenses on the floor (HC vs. Brossart). HC is trying their best to fix the problem. Another problem is that there is no handicap access to the gym, there is to the lobby, but not to the gym. The list goes on and on...

The Fieldhouse is the hardest gym to play in, but their no were else I'd would rather see the 10th region tournament at.

I never thought Highlands was a tough place to play. CovCath has a great student section, but I think it's a fun place to play, because of the enviroment. I'd put CCH behind Holy Cross and Boone for hard places for visitors to play.

 

 

Boone Co. gym is small but the atomosphere there is terrible so i wouldn't give them an advantage at all.
