Covington Catholic junior QB Blake Bir is among the area football players listed on the U.S. Army All-American Bowl combine roster, which will be featured during the bowl week in early January in San Antonio.

 

Bir, who is 6 feet 2 and 185 pounds, threw for 2,482 yards and 28 touchdowns this past season as a junior. He rushed 50 times for 240 yards and a touchdown. He had a 61 percent completion percentage.

 

Bir has thrown for 4,782 yards passing with 50 touchdown passes. He is receiving interest from Northwestern, Duke, Vanderbilt, Indiana, Mississippi State, Bowling Green, Miami University, Marshall, and several others, according to CovCath coach David Wirth.

They return the best QB in KY this year. Along with a big running back Sam Dressman.

 

I'd go easy on the best QB in Kentucky stuff. But, even if true, the last time CovCath had the best quarterback in the state Highlands beat them on a dreary November Saturday. So there is that.

 

As for your original post, CovCath will beat Highlands again someday. I don't know when, but it will happen eventually. That said, I'm not sure how many people really understand what Dale has built in Ft. Thomas. Without getting into specifics, he's built a better mousetrap, and the rest of NKY is going to be playing catch up for at least as long as he stays.

Highlands running game alone will be devastating this year. Seth Hope in my opinion will be the most dominating player on the field this year for Highlands.

People seem to forget that next years junior class is probably the most talented overall to come out of Ft.Thomas..The Birds will be really really good again..

When/how can we get SK on the football schedule, so we can read another bad prediction about HS football...Birds will be scary good. Better at nearly every position in 2012. That does not guarantee them a win over any team, but it does mean others will have to give an outstanding effort to beat the Birds.
