You think those getting a free ride now are all of sudden going to come up with the premiums to pay for the coverage they are forced to get? The answer is no. They will get a credit or voucher or something that will pay for it. Guess where that money will come from? The same place it comes from now - our pocket. However, there will be more people paying into health care and the more dollars in, the less my cost. Personally, I am all for everyone being required to have health insurance.

Everything I've heard says just the opposite.
March 30, 201214 yr My posts in this thread are more about how the Dems are going to spin it. As to the poll numbers, that differs from what I have seen in other polls. When was that poll taken? Perhaps voter sentiment is shifting? March 17-18 of 2012.

Yes there will be more paying in but there will also be more people to cover. At best rates stay where they are but I'm guessing they go up. If my company goes out and hires 20 people our rates don't decrease as a result.

Plus all these folks that haven't supposedly had any care, once they find out it's all free....sign 'em up for everything...running more tests, finding more things wrong, costs escalate.

Except you're forgetting the # of people that seek care is going to increase by a much larger % than the money coming in does. Therefore my coverage goes up and so will yours. The solution is to tell those who don't have coverage or can't afford the care, "too bad." Will never happen, but it's the best solution out there.

Would doctors fit that criteria for you? The doctors my mom works for say the exact opposite is going to happen.

The supposed health care experts that get quoted in the media. Our current insurance plans push preventive care to the extent that there is no charge out of pocket or a minimal co-pay. Why would they make it so easy to get a check up if there wasn't a cost benefit?

Everyone is not covered. If they were we wouldn't here the stories of family's having to file bankruptcy because of medical bills. Can everyone get seen by a doctor for the flu or some other mild illness, yes. Go to the emergency room and don't pay the bill. Can anyone get cancer treatment regardless of coverage, probably not. So to say everyone is covered that just isn't true. While your correct that some will have to pay in that aren't now maybe, but that number won't be very high. If it is then the crap we've been feed all along that $40+ million in this country can't afford insurance just was true.
