Everyone is not covered. If they were we wouldn't here the stories of family's having to file bankruptcy because of medical bills. Can everyone get seen by a doctor for the flu or some other mild illness, yes. Go to the emergency room and don't pay the bill. Can anyone get cancer treatment regardless of coverage, probably not. So to say everyone is covered that just isn't true.

 

While your correct that some will have to pay in that aren't now maybe, but that number won't be very high. If it is then the crap we've been feed all along that $40+ million in this country can't afford insurance just was true.

 

 

I think everyone who needs health care gets health care, so everyone is covered. A lot of those that are "covered" get treatment through indigent funding and I have no doubt that those dollars get fed right back into my bill. I don't see any hospitals closing their doors so they are getting paid somehow. That person with serious health issues who went bankrupt is still getting treatment and you and I are paying for it. That person who never had insurance, is in a car wreck and requires 24/7 care is still getting cared for and we pay for it.

Rumors are the justices did an initial vote on Friday. It was not good for the administration and it was leaked and now they are on full court press to use public pressure to get a switch out of Kennedy.

I don't see how he can spin it in his favor. The opposite side can sit there and say:

 

"See he doesn't care about the contitution. He tried to ram an unconstitutional bill down the throats of the American people."

Death panels is a term to scare people.

 

However, every universal health care, that I have read about, has some form of restriction on who gets what service, as does this bill. Why do you think people from Canada come to the US to get services they can't get in Canada.

 

I forget the number, I read it somewhere. On average, something like 70% of the cost of healthcare during most people's lives is the final 6 years of their life.

 

A friend of my dad's is from Canada. I think he was 65 at the time and was retiring. He could not get knee replacements in Canada, he had to come to the US. There's a specific term he used as to why he couldn't. But it boiled down to he was retired, nonproductive, and it was not life threatening. So basically he would just have to deal with it. The money for that type of surgery was only available for people who could be productive afterwards.
