Elly Ogle committs to LSU

Featured Replies

Or a simple "Congrats to Elly Ogle" would have been fine!!

Right back at you . . .didn't see you following your own advice, but since you brought up 2 sports, I think we are on the same page. My point is that to continue to be a successful player in 2 sports in HS means you must be an exceptional athlete who's willing to work your butt off . . . and then to get a scholarship to the SEC, one of, if not the premiere sports conference in the nation while still dividing your time between 2 sports is simply incredible.

Thats enough you two..............A big congrats to the Ogle girl, her family and the NDA nation.

Luckily she was able to over come her father's athletic ability, or lack there of :D, and secure a sweet opportunity to play volleyball (and have school paid for) in the ultra competitive SEC.

Congrats to Elly, Mark and Joan along with the entire Ogle family on this tremendous accomplishment.

I know you were kidding about overcoming her father's lack of athletic ability, but for those that don't know, Mark (aka, the Rat) was quite the high school and college basketball player. One of Centre's best basketball players ever. Tough as nails with a basketball in his hands; a lightweight with a beer in his hands.

I'm very happy for him and his daughter. Well done.:thumb:

This is a perfect fit for Elly. The coaches of LSU are top notch individuals and they were outstanding on the recruiting end with Elly. They attended as many of her basketball games as they did her volleyball games which is pretty cool. Elly has dedicated her life to sports and volleyball in general and I couldn't think of a better place for Elly to be. She is a super girl and deserves this. Great job Elly!

Heard from my NDA/Beechwood friends that Elly was at the district championship tonight. Word is she was not getting any playing time at LSU so she quit. With Zweibel coming in to set next year that probably would not change. Reportedly, Elly is heading to Thomas More. She should be eligible right away since she is going from D1 to D3

Who is Zweibel?

Saw this coming. Not a surprise at all.

Who is Zweibel?

Anna Zweibel setter for Sacred Heart in Louisville. Incredible athlete and committed to her craft (setting).

If Elly ends up at TMC this is huge for the Saints!

I don't see Elly Ogle starting over Jenna Fessler.

Huge IF, but if Elly went to TMC as an attacker, TMC would immediately be a top 10 D3 team next year. Athletes as physical (10'2 approach touch) as Elly at the net are very rare in D3. TMC is already a very successful program but that would be an absolute program changing moment.

She's a high end D1 athlete, if she wants to, and could land in another D1 program.

I don't think she is a "high end D1 athlete". Yes she is very athletic and strong, but her setting is inconsistent. The many times I've seen her play, she was less than impressive.

She isn't a high school kid but nice try. Plus, I'm not ripping on her, just confirming the fact that she isn't the setter LSU wanted her to be.

She is a high end D1 ATHLETE. Didn't say a word about her being a high end D1 setter.
