Trinity went "toe to toe" with some of the best high school teams in the country at the City of Plams tourney in Florida in December. Whether they win state or not, there is no need to say a potential state championship is due to the talent "being down" in Kentucky. The fact is this is the best roster (1-10) that Szabo has had in his time at Trinity.

 

Don't disagree with this at all but after watching the past several years of KY high school ball closely, there is NO question the quality of the teams in the state is not as good this year.

 

That is not meant to discount anything T has done and winning state is winning state, no matter who's in it. Merely stating an opinion and admitting that this is the year for T to get it done!

 

However, if T plays like they did in the first half last night again, they risk getting beat.

I watched the first half and I though Willis was outmuscled by the Trinity defense but he has a great handle for a 6'9 kid and can knock down the trey and pass like a guard. I really like his upside. I think he will get stronger, its not like he shy's away from contact, he just cant play through it right now. Trinity did a great job of having a body all over him on each possession that I saw.

 

Trinity has so much talent and depth, this is their tournament to win. The big kid going to Boston U runs the floor well and has a soft touch on his shot. They are just loaded plain and simple. Outside of a catastrophe I think they win the Sweet 16.

 

Don't know where you all are coming from. You will never hear a T supporter say or think that way. We respect all opponents and nothing taken for granted. It has to be earned - and we have always projected that. So lighten up.

 

I was replying to Qryche's post. Pretty sure he's not a Trinity fan.

I think a lot of people would agree that Trinity has the best teams on paper- but that doesn't win championships! They are just kids and you never no what can happen in a one game scenario.

I personally don't know why they are even bothering with the games! Just present the trophy to Trinity and we can all do something else this week-end!:idunno:

 

Just because everyone believes Trinity will win doesn't mean anyone said anything remotely close to that. I hate when that card is played. This is an opinion site, and people are simply posting their opinion. Trinity has earned the right to be the favorite in the state tournament. But anything can happen, and Clark County is playing very well. Everyone on here knows that.

I thought the officiating was OK. Granted T had more fouls called against them, but they were playing more aggressive. Willis was simply too soft for Trinity's D - for the BE coach to whine about officiating is plain sour grapes. The refs did bail Willis (and another BE player) out on a couple of occasions, but it was nothing egregious. Even though Willis is not strong enough right now, with 2 more inches and 45 more lbs. of muscle, he has a LOT of upside, IMHO.

Willis is a good player. He is not another John Wall or Anthony Davis.

 

Give him 2 or 3 years and he will be a contributor at UK.

Willis has a tremendous handle and passes really well. Has a nice sot IF he is set. His lack of strength and poor footwork make him a poor post player. I would have him concentrate on strength and agilities this summer. Rock Oliver needs to get hold of him.

 

Have seen Willis play a lot, especially over last summer. His natural postion is NOT a post player. He has talent and skill and is a junior. He will continue to improve. Looking at coach Cal's recruiting results in the past, I would say Coach Cal and his staff may just know a little more about recruiting than most of the posters on this thread. Just sayin'
