Interracial Marriage Should Be Illegal

...according to a seemingly high number of people in Alabama and Mississippi.

Survey was done ahead of the upcoming GOP primaries.

http://www.publicpolicypolling.com/pdf/2011/PPP_Release_SouthernSwing_312.pdf

33% of likely GOP voters in AL say it should either be illegal or they're not sure if it should be legal while 46% in Mississippi voted that way.

These two also have a lot of people who say the POTUS is definitely not a Christian or they're not sure if he is.

Must be heck for those right-minded intelligent people in those two states having these folks as neighbors.

Not saying I agree with them because I don't, but I do believe in their right to believe what they want to believe. Don't you?

I'll assume that's rhetorical.

If that's the case, what is the purpose of the thread? To try and point out that these southern folks are ignoramuses?

The purpose is to show that while we all comfort ourselves with "it's getting better" ,as if that justifies the many parts that are not better, we still have many "ignoramuses" out there showing how far we have to go.

Maybe in a few generations we'll have all this nonsense weeded out. Too much to ask?

And while I agree with every post here so far, let me also state that I think it folly that over 90% of black people voted for Barack Obama in the last election, and I also think it silly that Catholics would vote for Santorum because he goes to the same church that they do.

How are the last two equal in "folly" to the fact that a good number of people think that a black man and white woman should not legally be allowed to marry?

People are idiots...

Don't worry, I won't.

...that over 90% of black people voted for Barack Obama in the last election....

What percent normally votes for a democrat? That argument is very weak from a percentage standpoint.

Here is what I found:

1984 Walter Mondale 90% Ronald Reagan 9%

1988 Michael Dukakis 90% George H.W. Bush 10%

1992 Bill Clinton 83% George H.W. Bush 10%

1996 Bill Clinton 84% Bob Dole 12%

2000 Al Gore 90% George W. Bush 9%

rmrd0000's Blog | Talking Points Memo | Bill Clinton Got Historically Low Black Vote Percentages

I verified the Bill Clinton numbers using another link, so I assume that the rest are accurate. I was actually surprised that Clinton did not get more.

Your point might be stronger based on actual numbers of votes. I'll look up that later.

Oh...and sorry to do a mini-thread jacking. :D

We can't use Bill Clinton because he was really the first black President.

We can't use Bill Clinton because he was really the first black President.

 Then you would think that he would have gotten a larger percentage of the votes.
