March 8, 201214 yr I can't believe the Cowboys are not going after Manning? They have Tony Romo. And do you honestly think Peyton wants to play little brother twice a year? Faulk said he won't go to the NFC period because he doesn't want to play in the same conference as Eli.
March 8, 201214 yr They have Tony Romo. And do you honestly think Peyton wants to play little brother twice a year? Faulk said he won't go to the NFC period because he doesn't want to play in the same conference as Eli. Romo is horrible! Jerry Jones should be showing Manning the money!
March 8, 201214 yr Romo is horrible! Jerry Jones should be showing Manning the money! Romo is an above average QB and is far from the problem in Dallas.
March 8, 201214 yr Deciding between Mark Sanchez and Peyton Manning is not hard PP92. With that said, I don't think Peyton will go to New York. I definitely agree. I think Manning is better than Smith or Flacco also. I just don't understand the logic of replacing a qb that has led his team to their conference title games. Why not build on the success? There's no guarantee Peyton takes the team further and if he doesn't you've ruined the qb that took you to the same level. Just doesn't seem worth it to me.
March 8, 201214 yr You just made my point. Lots of us fans think that (those teams don't have very good QBs) but using the Jets as an example they have stuck by Sanchez, however, if they entertain the thought of bringing Manning in it shows us all the confidence in Sanchez was nothing but a charade. I think it just shows that a better QB option has came along and they would like their team better with Manning under center.
March 8, 201214 yr Romo is horrible! Jerry Jones should be showing Manning the money! Manning doesn't need money. He is set for life. He is going to go to a team where he can win. And if Faulk is right he's going to go to an afc team, so Dallas is out.
March 8, 201214 yr I think it just shows that a better QB option has came along and they would like their team better with Manning under center. Why risk the long term future and stability at qb with Sanchez for 2-4 years of Manning? Seems stupid to me.
March 9, 201214 yr Author This is a quote from PFT and exactly what I am talking about: Indeed, the Jets wouldn’t be sniffing around Peyton Manning if coach Rex Ryan was telling the truth when he said Mark Sanchez will be the starting quarterback for as long as Ryan is the head coach.
March 9, 201214 yr Why risk the long term future and stability at qb with Sanchez for 2-4 years of Manning? Seems stupid to me. Give him a chance to grow up and learn from one of the greatest, worked for Rogers. However, not going to happen, Sanchez has 13 mil against the cap so no way they could pay both and stay under the cap.
March 9, 201214 yr Give him a chance to grow up and learn from one of the greatest, worked for Rogers. However, not going to happen, Sanchez has 13 mil against the cap so no way they could pay both and stay under the cap. Yes, it worked for Rodgers but Rodgers didn't go to the bench after leading his team to conference title games in 2 of his first 3 years to learn from one of the best.
March 10, 201214 yr New York Jets extend Mark Sanchez's deal, end pursuit of Peyton Manning - ESPN New York So I guess that the Jets are no longer undermining Mark Sanchez- just the short-term future of their entire franchise seems to be in question. "Jets extend Mark Sanchez's contract The New York Jets ended months of Peyton Manning speculation Friday night with an emphatic statement, announcing a three-year contract extension for incumbent Mark Sanchez. The Jets made Sanchez one of the highest-paid quarterbacks in the NFL after a season in which they openly admitted they weren't pleased with his rate of development. The timing also is curious, coming only hours after they were eliminated from the Manning sweepstakes. The deal includes $20.5 million in guarantees for 2012 and 2013 and $40.5 million in "new" money, bringing his total over five years to $58.25 million, according to sources. He can make an additional $10 million in escalators. The $58.25 million gives Sanchez the seventh-highest financial package among NFL quarterbacks, sources told ESPN senior NFL analyst Chris Mortensen. The amount of money in the contract virtually assures that Sanchez will be the starter for at least two more seasons. Sanchez, speaking to reporters for the first time since the season ended, said he wasn't bothered by the Manning speculation."
March 12, 201214 yr Author I think we find out this week Please expand on that!? In Sanchez's case the extension has been described by some as a "lipstick and powder" contract which in my opinion feeds the internal Jet problems.
March 13, 201214 yr Tarvaris Jackson hasn't had any confidence to lose since another aging vet came in and put him on the bench a few years back. And it's no secret that the Seahawks have no confidence in him and he's just a stop-gap until someone better is brought in. If they weren't looking to improve with Peyton (or maybe Flynn.. the jury is still out on how much of an improvement that would be), I would be very upset with the Seattle front office.
