I think the Colonels will win but do not predict a blow out. If I had to pick the most likely game for a 9th Region Round 1 upset, this would be it.

With time about to expire at the end of double OT, Bulldogs up 8, there was a run out. Mark made the observation that Holmes was gong to let the clock run out in a classy move. His follow up comment was in the context of correcting his observation that the Bulldogs were going to let the clock run out without taking the layup. Mark has been highly complimentary of the Bulldogs over the years and was again last night. He noted the Bulldog's high level of play and positive adjustments made in response to the regular season game. He called upon the Will Rogers quote that the rumors of the Bulldogs' demise have been greatly exaggerated. A review of the broadcast will reveal many additional compliments. I would put Mark in the category of many Covington native, Covington Catholic fans (like me) who pull for the Colonels but when Holmes advances, pull for the Bulldogs. (One of my most vivid memories of a state tournament game was Holmes' Saturday morning comeback against Lex. Cath. when fans in Newport Catholic pullovers, Covington Catholic hats and Holy Cross vests were on their feet in support.) Mark stayed on the air after the loss on Saturday to broadcast the All Tournament Team, James Bolden receiving the MVP award and Holmes receiving the Championship Trophy. Mark stayed on the air after the Cov. Cath/Dixie regular season game at the BOK arena to broadcast the Bulldogs game against Newport Catholic. As mentioned above, Mark has 499 broadcasts under his belt. All for free. Apology - no. Vote of thanks - definitely yes.

The Bulldogs do not get a first round bye. A Listerman vs. Listerman matchup. The Bluebirds had a respectable showing against the Bulldogs in the regular season. Holmes (as always) is stacked but Highlands can be counted on to claw and scratch every possession.

Bluegrass preps has its own version of the Zapruder film. Nice work Tac. :thumb:

It's like walking to the free throw line with 8/10th of a second left in OT of a hard fought do or die tournament game with the score tied. All eyes are on you ...

Thank you for the kind words. I was listening to the radio broadcast and following your game updates. Your posts were spot on and occassionally published quicker than the play came over the air. [i was thinking this may be a function of transmission factors or perhaps a 7 second radio delay.] It was a very enjoyable way to capture the action. :thumb:

WFTM provides an A+++ radio broadcast.

Augusta was on a 9 count about 4 different times in regulation and OT.

I tuned in about 10 minutes ago. I think I have only heard Augusta get 1 rebound.

1 ref had a charge. 1 ref had a blocking call. Settle out of court….double foul. Possession arrow gave the ball back to Mason County.

Tons of credit to the shooter :thumb: but I don't think I would say all. Hackworth's in-bound pass was strong as was Jennings bounce pass to Eric. I would also throw a bone to Coach Code and, while we are at it, ...to Brian and Carol for raising such a great kid who has the training, ability and fortitude to hit the big shot. :thumb::thumb:

With about 12-15 seconds left on the clock, Brossart is down 1 and calls a time out to set up a play. They break from the time out and cannot get the ball in bounds. Brossart calls another time out, their last. When they put the ball in play Brossart turns the ball over fairly quickly and then has to foul sending Scott to the line. Scott hits 1 of the 2 free throws. I think it is fair to say Brossart may have been a bit rattled at this point. They would have had 4.3 seconds to extemporaneously dash up the court for the tie/win. The timeout provided the opportunity for Brossart to compose themselves and for coach Code to set up a play.

Was the scoreboard listing of fouls correct? Scott only had 1 team foul in the second half? If so, Brossart had 4.3 seconds to go the length of the court and Scott had 5 fouls to give.

Scott hits a free throw to go up 2 points with 4.3 seconds left. Brossart is out of time outs. Coach Carr calls a full time out. Coach Code gets to set up a play. Yada, Yada … the Mustangs are the top seed in the 37th District.

This is a very nice win. Dixie has a punchers chance of taking out any team in the Region.

This is a great story. Coach Carr and Coach Listerman are to be commended.
