  1. Sorry guys, it seems I have hit a nerve. The only thing I have heard on this site is what a more tough schedule CC has played and how much tougher NKY teams are, how much more speed they have and how much more balanced they are. I made a mistake, I thought by making comments such as these you were saying JC was not these things or our area was weak, sorry. Lets get down to the reason this site is here and talk football. Games are won on taking advantage of matchups. What are they key matchups going to be? I think the key for JC will be using Welch and his abilities to keep CC defense off gaurd and making the running game more effective. Welch is also second in the state all time in intercpetions. Who will CC use to counter Welch? Anyone else have any ideas on matchups for the game.
  2. Finally a JC fan on here! I think the NKY folks are in for a surprise if they think JC is a slow, one dimensional team.
  3. Take all your records and data and 25 cents and you can not buy a cup of coffee at McDonalds when you come down. Past records do not win ball games, they reassure insecure people. I respect what NKy has done and have nothing to repect for CC. Just have the same for us. Come on down, one thing "holler fans" can do is host a ball game. The drive will be worth it!
  4. I will make one more comment on here and let the teams decide Friday night. I guess what we are tired of hearing is how much farther ahead NKY football is than us and how we do not play anyone and how one dimensional we are. I will say this one more time 1) The reasons people have scored points on us is our JV has played most of the second half and other teams have left thier first team in. 2) We do have a passing game and to think we do not will be a mistake. Ian Welch is as good a reciever as there is in the state. Dillion is not fancy, but can through the ball good enough. 3) We did not play a bunch of easy teams either, I will not get inot that, just look at the schedule. 4) CC can not show us anymore of a running game than Belfry did and CC does not have as good a balanced attack as Bryan Station and we beat them. (Just ask Highlands about BS) We both love our teams and I admire you for that. The team that brings thier "A" game will win this one and it will be won on the field, not here debating which area is better.
  5. Guys it seems we agree to disagree but I think the NKY crowd will get a dose of how good mountian football is. All I am saying is as good and as big as you say you are and your tough schedule will mean nothing Friday night. We are just tired of hearing how great NKY is. The gap between the mountains and the rest of the state is closing every year and this may be the year the gap closes. We have kids who can play with you. I am sure the JC coaches pregame speech will be that CC has no respect for for them and remind them of 06. Come on down and have a great time, it will be a whale of a game!
  6. The way I see the game is CC will have to stop three strong running backs behind a great line. JC also has a first team all state candiate at reciever and a QB that is not fancy, but can get the ball there. On offense, CC will have to run on a very strong 8 man defense and if they pass JC has three outstanding DBs with again a first team all state safety candidate who is second in the state in interceptions all time. Sounds like a big order to me. I know alot of guys who post here do not think much of football south of Lexington, but what you wil learn is our "holler kids" are tough and have hearts as big as the mountins. The one that generally wins a football game is the one that will hit the hardest and I will put up our "holler kids" anytime.
  7. Coal Severence money footed alot of the bill. The JC system is ranked at the top in KY in test scores and the system is very sound financially. As a JC fan it has been a privaledge to see this football program grow. Just a few years back we were the doormat of the mountains. Now we feel we can line up and play with any team in the state. JC has had a good administration and great coaching ( and alot of money).
  8. I agree with everything that is said here. Welch is a 1st team allstater and a legimate D1 propspect. I think Tanner Bratten is approaching Blake Johnson and is just a soph. This is a no frills smash-mouth team with good speed at the skill positions. JC fans we are kidding ourselves if we think CC will not be a tough game. From this point on the Eagles must put thier "A" game on every Friday Night. Just ask Highlands.
  9. JC will win this game and silence the critics. JC's running game and time management will make the difference. I think our atheltes and passing game will fool some people Mountian teams will show the rest of the state that we can play with the big dogs this year. We respect our opponents and let our players prove how good they are on the field, not in these forums. These posts will make some great wall paper for the JC dressing room! Keep up all the great comments of how weak and one dimensional we are and how weak mountin football is. We love it!
  10. I do not have a pic, but there are new home stands and a new consession stand. The food still smells and taste as good as ever. A home new dressing and weight has been added and I have heard the visitors dressing room is a good as any in the state. This is one of the best places in the state to see and play a football game!
  11. JC will have to play a good game to take this one. JC has not thrown the ball this year because they have not had to. JC has several weapons they can use that could be a surprise. If they can get thier running game going and control the clock and play tough defense, they are hard to handle. They will have to call a few "special plays" to keep everyone honest. This will be a very good game against a very tough team. That is what the playoffs are about. I pick JC in a close one.
  12. We know some of you guys think mountain football is not for real and we are a bunch of dumb hillbillys and get some "advantage" by hosting a game. Keep this kind of posts coming, it will make great wall paper in the JC dressing room. We are more concerned about todays game, both are great teams. Ignore the comments and take care of the business at hand is how us "dumb hillbillys" win football games.
  13. I feel that the JC staff will be at Cov Cath today and preparing for that game next week. You have to win every week to go on and Cov Cath is not a team to overlook. Altough everyone would love to see the Hihgland-JC match up, both have business to take care of this Friday night.
  14. I am a Johson Central fan, and even though I may make some Belfry people mad, Bryan Station was the best team we faced this year. Very big and athletic! Although I did not see this coming, I knew Bryan Station could cause problems on any given night.
  15. This may be the best game ever in the mountians. I will predict that a player we have not mentioned makes a play we do not expect to win or change the game. The two best coaches in the mountains and maybe the state will come to this one with a few surprise plays and I think it will take that for either side to win.
  16. Good post! Real football fans enjoy good football games and good football players and we got our moneys worth Friday night. Two class programs and coachs who were not afraid to schedule each other. The fans are the ones who won Friday night. I am a JC fan, but I for one will be rooting for Belfry to win a state title. We all need to rally behind our mountian teams and players. As a passing thought, I wonder what the gate money will mean to each school if this serious continues?
  17. Yes that is the one. Dials made a circus catch and took a great hit at the goal line late in the game and the official (Bill Greer) made an awful call. Dials caught that one. One hit his hands and should have been caught and the other was behind him. Dials made another catch that kept a drive alive. In addtion to being a great defensive player Dials is one of the most sure handed tight ends in the state. Anyone who would trash a great player from any team shows they know nothing about football.
  18. In my opinion, JC has played much better this year. Take the JC turnovers out and this would have been a very different game. Belfry made JC pay for thier mistakes. JC regrouped and played hard in the 4th quarter. Belfry is an outstanding football team and should hang up another State Title. Very good football game. Both schools should be complemented for playing each other. More big time Eastern Kentucky schools should have the backbone to play Belfry and JC in the regular season. I would like to see Bell County line up with these two teams. This game could be the start of the biggest rivalry to be played in the hills for a long time.
  19. I agree with you, Dustin May is a very outstanding player on both sides of the ball. I think this will show players from Eastern Kentucky have talent and can suceed at the next level. I look forward to McCoy Hatfield Bowl this year. Can you see Dials and May at linebackers on that team!
  20. JC did not show up to play tonight and Belfry has a very good football team. This will be good for JC in the future. It will show them they have to forget the all the ratings and press and show up ready to play when they are on the road and in a very hostile enviorment. I may be the only one on here that thinks so, but JC has played an impossable schedule and this will help them go deep into the playoffs. How much harder can it be to play an opponent on the road such as Belfry? For all the Nathaniel Dials critics on here he proved you all wrong last night. Dials is a D1 player if I ever saw one. He totally dominated last night and was heads above any one on the field. Does anyone know if there were any scouts at the game last night?
  21. JC has some very talented players who will step up and Matney will have a game plan to slow Lou Central down. JC by a touchdown and this will start the momentum for JC to win out the rest of the regular season and on the the playoffs. Go Eagles!
  22. Kobe 24 Fan, Grimm is a great player but this team has more weapons and would be a long way from being done! You have all state reciever targets in Dials and Welch. Dillion and Richarson are as good as any backs in this area and distirict. If the offense was more versital, the opposing teams could not tee up on JK and the oline. On defense again you have Dials and Welch that are all state perfomers, Dillon, Richardson, Belhausen and Goudruose that are as good as any in the district. Again, mix the defense up and use this talent. This is still a very good and talented team and will go far into the playoffs. I do not think that JC or Matney will forget Paintsville.
  23. I agree with Golden Eagle fan, no intesnsity for JC this week and Woodford came with an attitude. I do not think it is classy or fair to to give a high school player any grief. This is not the NFL. I do think the ball distirbution to other recievers may be an answer. JC has a lot of good targets to throw too and I do not think they have been utilized. I saw several open recievers Friday night on most throwing plays. I am a JC fan and Matney fan as well. I do think that a more diverse offense and defense should be considered. Most teams come to town and set up thier defense to stop the run and it does put pressure on the line and backs to produce. A more open throwing game plan could stop this. I think the defense needs to have more stunting and looks to keep some of these atheletic teams in check. You just can not line up and give an atheletic player or players the chance to use thier speed. I still think JC will have a great year. You have Grimm who is one of the best offensive and defensive backs in the state, you have Dails who is a potential first team all stater and D1 player at both tight end and defensive end/linebacker, you have Welch who is a great reciever and safety, Dillion and Richardson both great backs and defensvie players and JK who has a great arm. JC just needs to open up and use these weapons. Again I am a JC and Matney fan and I know they will get things worked out.
  24. JC is playing a very hard schedule. They are finding that teams outside EKY are more atheltic and tough. This will help them down the stretch as they will be more familar with quality teams. JC is banged up now and the week off will get everyone healthy again. Woodford has an awesome team, very quick and hard hitting. JC just needs to get healthy, regroup and play with more intensity. No loss is good, but I think this is a good wake up call for JC early in the season that will help get back on track. I still think the road to the district championship goes through JC and I will make a prediction, the next time these two play, and I think they will, a helathy and focused JC will make a much better showing.
