It wouldn't be a game this year even if they did play, Scott Freshman are in the middle of a four game losing skid, I was referring to the Varisty Game that is scheduled every year between Mason and Scott.

I wonder if Nike gives the winning team a take home "bonus" :sssh:

Not sure if you can jump from Bath County to the next Mountain Powerhouse, but I've seen crazier things! Bath is 3-3 with wins over Piarist, Sayre, and Richmond Model. Hope you are not trying to throw a low jab to Jim Bob???

It was a battle, both teams were fully staffed, please post when you confirm, would like to see exact stats. Remember current Scott County Freshman Team is without Shotwell that is seeing time for Lexington Christian Varisty this year.

31-30 @ Mason (played at the Fieldhouse on a Saturday) held Mason scoreless in the first quarter......dont know exact date it was day after SC beat Mason @ Scott in High School.....just ask the players I am sure they will remember, I believe they were undefeated before hand......

Scott County is wearing Nike...but there is a difference from wearing Nike and being sponsered by them. I think back in their hayday Catholic may have been sponsered by Nike. If they are paying for hotel's, trip could easily been afforded. Typically hosts pay for hotels, meals, and even provide transportation.....I have been to a big time high school tourney that provide our team three Chevy Escalades (sp?). Good luck to Mason on the national stage!

To put things in perspective, Scott County has three middle schools, Scott Co.'s 8th grade team beat Mason last year (current Mason Freshman Team), as did Georgetown (another Scott Co. School). This year, this past weekend Georgetown's 8th grade beat Mason's 8th grade by 20 plus.... (without 8th grader Manning that's playing varisty). I think we are starting to find that Mason and Scott are going to be a state contenders for years to come, and it all begins with the younger kids and building a solid program rather than just a solid team. I think if more districts would put an emphasis on their middle programs we would see more talented high school teams across the state!

Not negating that it may not be a shoe company but the bottom line is WHO or WHOM funded the trip, not arguing that Mason County is not going to represent the state well, they are a finely tuned, well coached basketball squad. But, if other programs want the same opprotunity it would be nice to know how to raise the that kind of money to be able to go.

I have said this over and over, if they stick together they have a state tournament in their future! Special hardworking group of kids!

It's stated no where, just know that it is common practice for high profile players to get there teams courted around the country by high profile sports companies. I also utilized common sense in knowing that if you take 10 players and probably 4 coaches that is going to cost the school at least 30,000 dollars, and no car wash or banner fundraiser is going to bring in that much!

That is great but still doesn't explain funding and how this they are Title 9 compliant. I do agree that this is a great opprotunity for the kids, but if shoe sponsers are paying for the trip it's not the sign of a strong program just the sign of greedy shoe companies trying to get a jump on Miller!

With Scott County leaving today for the City of Palms and then going after the break to the Beachball Classic they had better start finding their stroke....soon! This team reminds me of the 2000 team!

I have been to Hawaii a couple of times, we are talking around 2 grand a person, including coaching, they must be doing more than just selling banners! Its not every day a high school basketball team leaves the mainland! Plato is it really legal for shoe sponser's to pay for a high school team to go somewhere?

Good win for Montgomery, I have to admit I counted them out but it looks as if they are bound and determined to be the ones that are tabbed to knock Mason off in the 10th. Good luck to Coach Griesser and the Indians!!!

I have heard Hicks' name being bounced around as well, Scott County just lost their Basketball "Happy" Super. and they say once you leave the mountains you always want to go back. Looks as if Scott County will have best freshman class EVER next year, would be hard to leave another guaranteed championship!!

Josh Clark huge game for the little he played tonight, Double Double. Looks like Friday @ Clark just got a little more interesting. Time to lace them up for some good Kentucky High School Basketball!!
